Any chances salvaging could become like in EVE?

What I mean is that I don t get why every cargo scooped is illegal. I am not a big fan of EVE but one thing I enjoyed was the salvaging... not knowing what you would get and having drones picking up cargo was fun to play with. At the moment I don t even bother with grabbing the cargo from wanted kills or things found in weak signal areas and I think it is a shame. I think that this cargo should be scoopable and you should be able to at least bring it to the authorities for a reward.

Kill a pirate/wanted, grab its cargo and you can bring it to the authorities for a reward...let the police sell the content or investigate it.

At the moment this looks too much like those cargo are wasted and serve no purpose. This would be a great start. Of course you could still grab that cargo and sell it if you don t get scanned in space authorities would know you are carrying cargo and if you don t bring it to a station you would get a fine. If you were to release the cargo somewhere else in space the cargo would get a beacon and you would not get a fine anymore.

I really think the same mechanic as EVE for salvage would be a great addition to the game as you could play the game to clean space and salvage only...find abandoned destroyed ships and salvage their metals and debris then sell those in stations/planets

I agree and disagree. As a new player I found the only way to make easy credits was to scoop and sell. The contraband made it much quicker as this was worth more money. I would like to see a lot more cargo that doesn't count as contraband making salvaging much more feasible. However I like the idea that we keep the contraband items for selling on the black market. More risk, but more reward. Currently, I would agree there is no salvaging niche if you will, because it is cut and dry, illegal (smuggler), or you created it (miner/bounty hunter).

Please add in the functionality for a salvaging niche! I also think it would be cool to restrict the bounty hunting to those who have put the resources and money into fitting their ships, as new players can log in and start cashing in with bounties from the gifted weapons they start with. Combat for low level AI is too easy in my opinion. As a new player I really didn't feel a real threat that would drive me to want to salvage or do other jobs. Mining is kind of expensive to start off with all the mining laser, refinery, etc. you need and the ability to defend yourself from pirates. I love the idea of just stripping down the starter ship and making it fast and large cargo hold for that salvaging role. I know I took your post and ran with it, but this is just one of the things I really missed out on early on in the game. Now I'm a trader straight up and it feels like a grind. Salvaging has such potential to scale as you get 100% profit instead of the markup from trading, and the cost to get into it is very low as you only really need cargo racks.

Thanks for the post.
