Any creative ways to "favourite" systems / locations?

Since I couldn't find anything within the game system (galaxy map, menus, whatever) to mark a specific system amidst the bazillions of other systems and stars around there, I wanted to try alternate solutions to "+Fav" a place.

Currently, my most efficient attempt was buying and parking a napkin (a.k.a Sidewinder) in any station inside the system and leave it there to rot.

Any other solutions/suggestions on the subject?

Tons of Sidewinders, or using the macro keys on my keyboard to type in station names for the current set of favourites. We badly need bookmarks. Navigating is especially painful in VR, too, where you can't see your notes, or the keyboard.

I play in Borderless Mode so I can switch back and forth between the desktop and the game. I always have a textfile open with my favourite system or station names in it. If I want to go there, I just mark the text in the text file, copy it to clipboard, then enter the game, go to galaxy map and paste the name into the nav panel.

I did try pen & paper, until I realized someone in my house likes to clean up my table (including my post-its) without authorization.

And I really don't like to have to take notes in a text file. I already have a ton of them for other games.

Good old antiquated mem banks :p

But yeah, more ways to favorite or mark systems that have good routes, interesting sights, etc. I hope they add it.

I take a mission from the bulletin and don't complete it ;)

^^ interesting ... is there a down side to not finishing a mission ?
.
Is there a fine or penalty?
.
I don't recall not finishing one but I may have and killed the brain cell that stored that memory.

You'll lose some rep with the faction giving you the mission but imo, it is worth the convenience.

It would seem to be a simple thing to have a drop-down list of the last ten stations you visited on the navigation tab in the galaxy map. I do like the idea of parking sidewinders around until a better scheme pops up.

I use CMDR's log, and make notes of the stations' locations, which other station(s) to trade with, plus it has some templates for shipyards/outfitting notes.
I dug out an old monitor just for this purpose.
Still have a stack of papers/notes that need cleaning up.......

only Way in game currently is marking with ships, personally i use hauler or sidewinder to mark out the better supply/demand trade routes and Eagles to mark out the better outfitters, but the game should have an option to add your own colour coded labels/icons or notes to systems, we can only hope it will get implemented in-game at some point.

As I live alone, no one to tidy up my desk and ruin my perfect system, I use pen and a notebook
I did when I was 14 playing the original version, it worked fine then, it still does now.
Apart from when I spot an interesting cluster of proto stars 2000ly from anywhere thats close to my current exploration route and I write down but spell the system names completely wrong........
Log on the next day type system name, nothing, luckily I found them again, I had put Slago, its Slegao, doh!

This is me too. CMDR's Log is a great logbook and data recorder, apart from its trading value.

CMDR Log when in civilization.

P&P when exploring.

Which I could do both with CMDR Log. It badly needs an exploration tab.
