General / Off-Topic Any good sci-fi or fantasy you can recommend on Netflix?

No problem. Firefly also has a movie that you should watch after you've finished with the tv series. It sorta closes out stuff brought up in the series. It's a crying shame they only made one season. A travesty.

^^ The movie title is "Serenity" (after the ship).

And yes, I agree that discontinuation of this masterpiece was a tragic decision. To this day it is my favourite sci-fi.

Dunno what's on Netflix but I'm enjoying.

The Man in the High Castle
Travelers
The Magicians
Westworld
Into the Badlands
12 Monkeys

Recently cancelled: Dark Matter, The Strain, Blood Drive

Binge watch all the Star Trek TV shows (except Discovery). They are all on Netflix. Just watched DS9 Trials and Tribbulations, so had to go over to TOS and watch Trouble with Tribbles

Another vote for The Expanse. It's very serious though, not much humour in it. But it is very, very good.

I've been liking Discovery. It's got its bad episodes obviously, but by and large I'm liking this 'Star Trek Dark' theme.

Yeah I'd vote for Discovery also. It's different and that's not a bad thing really.

WestWorld is great too but I don't think it forms part of a subscription streaming service

"12 Monkeys" is great I would've expected you to have already seen it. But we don't know Unikorn has already seen so we can't rule anything out..

Same director as 12 Monkeys, "Brazil"
Star Wars
You are playing Elite so "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "A Hitchhiker's Guide" are mandatory
The Martian
Inception
Interstellar
Planet of the Apes - Every version apart from Tim Burton's
The Matrix
A Scanner Darkly
Minority Report
Total Recall - avoid the new one
Bladerunner
Paycheck
Avoid "Next"
Edge of Tomorrow
Groundhog Day
Avatar
Flash Gordon
The Thing - both versions
Alien - All the Alien movies, even "Prometheus"
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
AI
Apollo 13
Dark Star
Silent Running
Charly
The Forbin Project
The Andromeda Strain
The Fly - Both versions but avoid Fly 2
The Incredible Shrinking Man
Forbidden Planet
The Day the Earth Stood Still
When Worlds Collide

For clarity I'm referring to 12 Monkeys the series, not the movie, since my impression was the OP was asking for shows.

Nobody's mentioned Netflix's own "Stranger Things" yet? That's really good...

I'd agree with "The Expanse" too, another excellent show and the 12 monkeys series is much better than the film IMO.

If you like your Marvel comics adaptations, they've their own shows to keep you quiet... think the order was:
Marvel's Daredevil (season 1)
Marvel's Jessica Jones
Marvel's Daredevil (season 2)
Marvel's Luke Cage
Marvel's Iron Fist
Marvel's Defenders
And just out:
Marvel's The Punisher

Other good drama series on there: Narcos, Marco Polo, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul (which is a follow-up, prequel to breaking bad)

There's also all the Marvel shows on Netflix. Some are better than others, but I've personally enjoyed all of them. I found Luke Cage the hardest to get through as it felt a bit slow in places, but they're all good.

The Shannara Chronicles are a nicely fluffy bit of fantasy. A sort of YA version of Lord of the Rings. One series so far, with a second being filmed.

Terra Nova was a nicely fluffy bit of scifi. Time travel, dinosaurs, a colony in the past. Only one series though.

Not sure if it counts a sci find, but I enjoyed (I think!) Dirk Gently on Netflix (the remake with Elijah Woods).

I say "I think" because it was bonkers, definitely a marmite thing.

At some points I wondered where it was going but overall I really enjoyed it.l, just stick with it and lean into the weirdness, it all makes sense in the end.

ARQ was a good time travel movie.

Agreed, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. I think the implication is that it happens after the books - he casually tosses out references to meeting Thor.

Yeah watch all the Marvel and Star Wars stuff on Netflix while you can. Disney is pulling all of then sometime the beginning of next year. They are starting their own streaming service.

The Star Wars stuff maybe, but Netflix make the Marvel stuff. Don't they? Or do I have that wrong?
