Any Horse Nerds Out There?

I'm not sure how many people would be interested in this idea, but Frontier is one of my favorite gaming companies and I would love to see them design a game involving horses. There are a lot of horse games out there, but most are just mobile games and are done really poorly. If anyone could make a proper equestrian style game, it's Frontier. If PZ is anything to go by, I'm sure the horses would be extremely well animated. I'd like to see a simple character creation, breeding and genetics that would affect your horse's personality (Which we could also share and sell horses to other players kind of like the animal trading system in PL), Training, raising foals, Horse Care (Horses can get injured, need feeding, ect), Show Jumping, Racing, Dressage, as well as small show events (either single player or against other players), Different tack and clothing that could be EARNED in game. If we could design our stables, and even some jumping arenas to an extent that would be pretty awesome too. I know this post is really nerdy :)

I can barely imagine anything I'd play less than a game about horses.

In no way takes away from the possibility that other would love it, you might even use a saying that its

Horses for courses.

Main course? We use horse meat for a couple dishes here.

In regard to some of these posts. For those making jokes....people have different interests..If developers can make games about car racing, shooting, hunting, and a god awful number of soccer and sport games..I don't see an issue with developing one for equestrian sports too.

Jokes aside, my wife has horses...as much as being a farmer, I don't share her enthusiasm for their maintenance or upkeep and tend to avoid the stables as much as humanly possible. They're not working farm horses, so hold little interest for me...they're just expensive pets rather than being useful and earning their keep.

When I was growing up as a farmer's boy, the horses we had on the farm were purely working horses...a mix of Clydesdales and Shires for pulling farm machinery or hay carts...yes, I'm that old. I could probably still cut a fairly decent furrow with a horse drawn plough too :)

Whilst I'm sure there are many out there who may share your interest in the type of game you describe...convincing a game studio to undertake the idea as a going concern might be...difficult.

I often noticed riding to be clunky. Skyrim, The Witcher, Dragon Age Inquisition, great games and a good horse would be like a good companion - TW 3 came close due to Roach being Roach - but the riding is so bad.

RDR2 is the only one of note. The horse and riding mechanics are the best I've seen. You have to care for your horse...there's a reasonably lengthy bonding process during which the horse adapts to your riding style and learns new tricks and gets stronger, faster etc. You have to name it, feed it, groom it, calm it when it takes fright, buy tack, feed and saddles for it, stable it occasionally for professional grooming to keep it at it's best and look after it's well-being throughout the game. There are several breeds and types of of horse, each breed or type has it's own particular characteristics and traits. You can even catch and break any of the many breeds of wild horses roaming in herds around the gameworld.

All in all, it's the best horse and riding simulator out there by a long chalk. Unfortunately, the equestrian side of the gameplay in RDR2 is but a minor consideration in the grand scheme of things. As good as RDR2 is as a horse simulator as well as being one the best games of the last 20 years, I suspect it's fairly distant from what the OP is looking for :)

My neice plays Star Stable all the time, so not me a horse nerd, but one in the family! Graphics are fairly low end and it is available on mobile as well, but she likes it so who am I to crticise!
