Hardware & Technical Any idea why my Saitek X-56 HOTAS lags in space stations?

I’ve noticed it happening recently. Scrolling around the mission board with the HOTAS sometimes/randomly gets really slow and laggy, and using the thumb-stick to look at the ship’s holo-panels sometimes becomes very unresponsive. The problem is the worst in space stations, but sometimes during flight, it gets really laggy when I try to view the holo-panels: like when I want to check modules or look at the comms panel.

I’m using desktop PC, and have the left and right controllers plugged directly into the PC (so no USB hubs). What, can I try? Since it’s not all the time, I don’t think it’s an issue with the HOTAS hardware.

Resolve X-56 HOTAS issues . . .

It doesn't happen with mine, I also have an X-56. Make sure your GPU drivers and Windows OS are both completely patched and updated. HOTAS problems can sometimes also be resolved by re-starting the PC and shutting down any programs running in the background (check your systems tray and the task manager) that are not needed when running Elite Dangerous, programs like .pdf helpers, program startup helpers, etc.

Try using kb&mouse or an Xbox controller and try to recreate the problem, if it happens with them too, then it must be the game, otherwise the hotas is to blame.

Does your motherboard have separate buses for USB2/3? If yes I would try a port on the other bus. For example, my ASUS MB has separate chipsets and sometimes I get minor issues on the USB3 ports that I don't get on the USB2 ports.

I ended up getting the new Logitech X56, and plugging it into the same ports. It is basically the same thing as the Saitek version and uses identical drivers, but the stick movement is a lot silkier and smoother and less creaky sounding. I guess it was a controller issue since the new controller isn't lagging and locking up.

I would've never upgraded, but hopefully the Logitech version's built to last. It does feel nicer though.
