Hardware & Technical Any ideas for a Couch HOTAS rig?

HOTAS is designed so you don't have to look at it and know by muscle memory where everything is.

You laugh at VR, I laugh at 'Hard-core sim player'.
No one laughed at VR -- the OP laughed at the suggestion that he shouldn't try to play with a HOTAS on the sofa because VR. He was right to.

Now everyone is laughing at you.

I always enjoy seeing everyone's setups!

I also prefer to sit on the couch or in my recliner when I play, mostly because I sit at a computer desk in front a computer most of the time at work.

So, I'm also very interested in finding a HOTAS setup for the couch, however I'm now looking at comfy gaming chairs so I can mount the Hotas to the arms, but they are pricey.

This is probably not what you want to hear, but I think you need to hear it. A HOTAS is not designed for casual gaming. It's not designed for couch play. It's designed for those who want complete immersion and is best used with a VR headset but even without the VR, it is still not designed for causal gamers who want to sit on their couch and play video games.

I totally get your point about a Hotas, but that doesn't mean it can't or shouldn't also be used casually?

If I've learned one thing, it's that people will find everyway to use something, no matter what the designers had in mind.

And that's a good thing as necessity is the mother of invention :)

Ok, I have a big comfy recliner and I just took a small tv snack tray and took the legs off of it. I just velcro'd my hotas down on it. It works quite well. I am kinda confused as a hotas IMO is to enhance your gameplay whether it be hardcore or casual. I'm have recently introduced several new commanders to this game and they are moving into hotas flying as beginners and loving every moment of it.

I have one for my Steering wheel, and was tempted to get one for the Hotas set up.

Nope the reply was to daiytazo, not the OP. But you would of realized that if you had read all the posts.

you know, you should use the quote feature if you reply to someone specific,
since most wil probably view the forums in its default linear form, not the tree form (which is disabled as far as i can tell) there is no way to tell to WHO you have replied if you do not integrate that information in your post.
