Any increased danger in Solo Mode for these areas?

Solo mode means you will not encounter other players. Npc encounters remain the same.

Open mode has the chance you will encounter other players. They may attack you, they may help you, they may ignore you. You never know until it does, or does not, happen. NPC encounters remain the same.

The reason you were advised to play solo until you make your rebuy back is purely so you can avoid the potential death at the hands of another player.

I think maybe you are looking at some of the resolved USS, as these have a tag line of pirate, salvage etc to demonstrate what is going on in them.

Earn your rebuy(s) then come back and have a deeper look. Its the best way to learn more.

Rule 1. Never fly without rebuy.
Rule 2. Never fly without rebuy.
Rule 3. Can you guess what it is? ;)

I'd head back to a safe system asap and do a few courier missions quick to get enough credits for a rebuy...then go out exploring.
If you're a semi competent pilot then it shouldn't be an issue as NPCs shouldn't pose much of a threat.

The three rules I would recommend every new pilot to learn is:

Rule 1 - Never fly without rebuy
Rule 2 - Always carry a fuel scoop
Rule 3 - Always have KGB FOAM enabled on the galaxy map filter

beyond that Solo / Open / Private group will just determine whether you will see other players (hollow icons on the radar) or just NPCs (full icons on the radar)
