DB looked like he had something to show off at the PC panel besides his derpy rollercoaster game, but he nearly spaghetti'd all over his sweater and walked off before the trailer ended. We were expecting some elite news then but I guess that got thrown by the wayside due to some unforeseen complications (or one too many at the bar). Maybe we'll get lucky and the next newsletter might have actual news in it for once.

Myself and some other friends noticed a common theme with the PC presentation, games that had AMD partnership branding, the devs got to sit down for a chat, for games that were nvidia branded the devs got to walk out and were gone by the time their trailer was done. I thought he looked nervous, a friend of mine said it looked like he started talking about Elite and got a very fast radio message to shut up and took some time to gather himself. It's not like the guy hasn't talked to rooms full of people with cameras pointed at him before.

Then it happened again with 2 other games that def had nvidia names in their youtube trailers.

I agree that what happened is out of the ordinary with David Braben. He's done hundreds of public appearances by now so it's likely there was something going on behind the scenes that made him lose track. It was very strange that he didn't stick around after the Planet Coaster announcement video either.

David Braben in his guest blog on the community website on the 15th/16th wrote:
Wednesday our Close Quarter Combat design team will explain how CQC works, and later this week our Executive Producer Michael Brookes will be here to talk about how the work we’ve put into Elite: Dangerous for Xbox One will feed back into PC and Mac, and make the game even better on every platform.

E3 is over. Perhaps I missed it but its not on the community website and can't seem to find it on the FD forums. Does anyone has a link where I can this information from Michael Brookes. One thing they certainly must have done is optimizing ED for (at least) 8 cpu cores. The XBone and PS4 have (relative) weak CPU's and to make game run efficiently/fast they have to utilize all cores. Can't find the link back but I think I read somewhere on the forums that atm when you have more then 4 cores they are not fully used. Wrt to the ED PC information, don't recall they said explicitly it would be revealed on E3 but soon (what ever that means).

Update: Really curious how they are going ti implement text chats with the XBone as you don't have a keyboard.

Remember that newsletter we usually receive every Friday?

It contained a part from Micheal regularly. That part was posted in advance in previous weeks, but this week, FD has been too busy. Hence, I have some hope, that new information might be in the newsletter.
On the other hand, the newsletter might just contain what was already said at E3.

From the last weeks newsletter #79. "There will be no newsletter next week because you'll find all the latest news and content about Elite: Dangerous at our new Community beta site . We'll be posting every day, and giving you the background on everything related to the game at E3 2015 first-hand."

So there won't be a newsletter this week ;-(

Yeah I think they underestimated our lack of interest in CQC as real news since we won't be getting it until Christmas (which is fine, but we're hardly excited about) and also underestimated the fact that people were hoping for something solid about the first paid expansion (which should be released around Christmas, but doesn't look likely now).

We are lucky if they announce it by Christmas at all. And this ladies and gents is how NoMan'sSky and SC won, because the first game of the three failed to do anything major with all that headstart. Shame...

They are rather good at miss-estimating our interest in a feature. Or just gung-ho on the hype anyway. Remember that in addition to the wait for CQC, lots of folks see no need for it, and/or think it is against the spirit of the game. And lots of focus was wasted by folks complaining about the XBox having any exclusive, even though we had already been told that would happen (just not what the thing that would be exclusive was). FWIW, I saw nothing from FD directly that suggested that they were going to say anything significant other than the XBox launch (which I expected to just be an announcement it was coming, not the launch itself) and the roller coaster announcement. DBOBE's ost on the 'community site' made it pretty clear nothing was going to happen, though that was weakened by poor wording on the next blog. I think we had people adding two and two together to make 17, though things were certainly not helped by a certain ambassador SQEEEEEEEEEEEing as if there was something to get excited about.

But the head start was a mirage. It looked like a head start because they declared it was released. But we all know it was still really only complete enough to be called a beta, and not quite ready for prime time yet. Given the state of the core game, this Christmas is too early for an expansion. But I would not be surprised if there was one anyway.

Errr....won what?

SC is coming at the end of 2016 soonest.

NMS is (most likely) coming during Holiday season this year. NMS also ins't exactly replacement for ED, nor is SC. They are different games, with different focus.

As for some bit of news see Joystiq stream yesterday.

At this point announcing expansions would premature, and FD is aware of that. They have and want to add so much more to core game, so they can continue to sell those copies. Only when they have maxed out that they should aim for expansion publication. In same time, I believe gameplay designers and concept artists are already working on lot of things regarding expansions.

I know what happened on stage, it´s obvious. DB felt a great disturbance in the Force.
When he said exciting rollercoaster game it was as if a million voices of Elite fans suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

Ear-mic: Move to plan 2 David. Someone just replaced our planetary landing demo with an episode of Button Moon. Show the trailer of the rollercoaster.

You have a point there BUT news from Michael Brookes about "XBONE optimizing and benefits that flow into the PC/MAC version" was officially announced by David. The wording made it unclear to me if it would done on E3 or that MB would release info later this week. Well two more days to go before this week is over. For me a week starts on a Sunday.
