If you mean "have they announced another Odyssey-sized expansion is under development", then no.Or is it still just Bugfixing and stuff which is basicly Maintenance Mode.
Thus the Game basicly not being Developed anymore ?
D. Braben walks into the basement room where they keep the community managers, finds them all asleep and says "Keep up the good work people, you're all fired by the way""have they announced at least some non-specific developments sufficiently larger than a bugfix to be able to excite a community manager",
I was going to reply to this as if it was serious, but then I noticed the idiosyncratic use of punctuation marks and decided it was art.it has a future since it exists now since the future becomes now constantly until it doesn't exist anymore.. But in that situation, it wont exist now as the first instant when that state alters the question "does it have a future" and something that doesn't exist can't have a future since it already no longer exists . So asking if something has a future is always going to return "yes" or "undefined" because it doesn't make sense to ask if something that doesn't exist has a future. it's like dividing by zero.
Our mentor David Braben is super excited about what is coming up in the next (or was it past?!) years. He enthusies of cities, skies, clouds, atmospheric landings as well as walkng around on ships and space stations, about plants like trees and animals ... But David also says some things won't arrive at launch because he wants to do things right. So be patient.Been a while I checked.
So. Has Frontier actually announced any actual Development Work being Planned for ED in the Future ?
With this crew, that may or may not be long enough.I have patience. I'm merely 40, and plan on gaming until the end of my lifecycle

We have a couple of updates coming (August and November) as well as a feature update in early 2023. That's all for now.
Personally, I think after that feature update, I think that will be it for the major development of the game. While we will continue to get an in depth story/narrative complete with community goals, Gal Net, unique and double engineered modules, paint jobs and decals, along with "random out of the blue" missions like "go here and look around 200 light years for secret base" I think that is all we will get going forward. Also, and of course, new cosmetics will be continually added to the ARX store.
While they could continue narrative after narrative for years and years, we will no longer get new assests or content like ships or interiors, new loops/mechanincs, or new expansions.
I really REALLY hope I'm wrong, but I think the game will remain "on and alive, with narrative content" and that's it.

Have a look in the Announcements forum?
That's my take on things. Perhaps a new ship or SRV or Thargoid foot solders are coming later this year or next, but I don't honestly expect Elite to be finished to the full extent of everything David Braben pitched during the kickstarter, ever.. I don't see any chance for water worlds, worlds with weather, or even comets for that matter, let alone ELWs, ship interiors, and all those other things we once hoped for. I think Odyssey was and is the last "great" (in effort more than quality) DLC for Elite. I could, of course, be wrong about that, but this is where I'm placing my bets.Or is it still just Bugfixing and stuff

One thing's for certain: many people on the internet don't know what "maintenance mode" means, and instead conflate it to mean "not working on what i want them to work on".
