Any news about PS4 perfomance yet?

Hello community,

i've read a thread about that topic wich is a month old. Are there any news by now, weather the console version does have any kind of disadvantage? Especially in terms of technical things like the FPS in the late game, when your park is huge.
I really like to buy that game for PS4, but I dont want to deal with big issues like minimized buildabilities or FPS drops and stuff like this. What are you guys expecting?

Thanks for your thoughts

No not a single word nor screenshot have been out yet on any of the console versions, which is really worrisome.

Hell the game might even end up looking like a Wii game on consoles..

Posted this also in another thread: This IGN first 20 minutes video from May 7th was done on a console version of the game.
Also they have said somewhere in a post (I think on reddit) that all three versions of the game will be similar.

the IGN 20 min game play was on an XBOX one. The devs have said that all 3 games are going to be exactly the same so no need to worry.

It is somewhat concerning to hear. I hope it wont affect PC gamers, I hope they game wont be limited because of console gamers are using inferior hardware.

When it comes to console, I've just kind of taken the route of expecting what's to be expected of consoles. The biggest difference will probably be that consoles will be locked at 30 fps. Won't see a lot of frame drop unless maybe you zoom in on a heavily populated area. Texture quality and all of that probably won't have a major difference.

The only thing that it is affecting is the terrain tool and maybe a few easier features.

Consoles don't have the most powerful hardware so expect some compromises with graphics quality. So far it doesn't look like a whole lot. You won't know till some comparison videos come out. I suggest to not expect the console versions to share graphical parity with the PC version.

I will be playing it on PC and my system specs are in my sig. I just hope the keyboard and mouse controls are good on the PC and there is nothing from the consoles holding the PC version back. I want to crank the graphics settings to max and see what the game looks like for myself. All I have is a 24 inch 1080p Freesync gaming monitor. Now when I play Planet Coaster my GPU gets a little loud. Which is why I use MSI and Riva Tuner to lock the fame rate at 30fps. I hope this game doesn't make my GPU loud cause that would be an annoyance. It doesn't get that loud with Wolfenstein II or Doom 2016. It can get a little loud with GTA 5. But it's the loudest with Planet Coaster. I plan to upgrade to a 1070 ASAP.

I do expect the consoles will be locked at 30 fps and they might even see some dips into the mid 20's. But again we won't know till we see the comparison videos. I will be watching comparison videos.

Also my nephew wants the game and I will probably buy it for him when it comes out. I gave him my old ASUS store bought desktop I got in 2015 and I upgraded it with a new power supply and a GTX 750 Ti back in 2015. I believe it had some version of the AMD A10 in it. That's what he will play it on and I will be seeing if it can handle the game. So it will get tested on two different computers with different hardware.

They always say that so that none of the fanboys start crying. [big grin]

All 3 versions will probably be the same gameplay wise. Graphics and performance wise it would depend on how well it's optimized for each platform. This is especially critical for PC. In the end it will probably look best on PC (if you have a good one), followed by Xone X, followed by PS4 Pro, followed by PS4 and XOne, if you look at it just from a HW point of view.

Consoles nowadays are pretty similar to computers. They're just not the fastest rigs compared to what gamer pc rigs can be but still decent.

So, given the Cobra Engine is multi-platform, they just disabled the ability to alter most graphics settings, maybe have a few tweaks for each console's hardware... and that's it.

ED on PC, PS4 or Xbox One is exactly the same game except for graphics/framerate due to console not being as powerful as the fastest computers.

There's no reason for JW:E to be different.

It will probably look better on PC if you own a good rig, cause you'll set the graphics quality to Ultra where consoles will be mid/high at best... but it will be the same game.

And to be clear, again, consoles ARE basically PCs now. Just not the top high-end hardware, but they don't have to handle the same variety of hardware as an PC OS does, so they can optimize a lot of stuff because of that.

There's nothing "inferior" about consoles... except maybe the lack of keyboard/mouse.

That's not true at all. There are bunch of things that make consoles inferior and yes one of them is the hardware.

I still prefer to play on a console I wouldn't worry op about it, you always have to remember that some people will try to convince you that whatever they play on PS4 PRO, XBOX One X, PC is the best. Play on whatever you want and enjoy the game the way you will. I have said before that Frontier designed it so that it would play the same on all 3 ports, Just look at a lot of the recent games that have come out, the realism on them is amazing.

From the FAQ its not even confirmed what bonus the PS4 Pro is getting, if its similar to Elite Dangerous or if there is a resolution bump. I know for example 4K appears to have been confirmed on the Xbox One X via the MS store. The consoles are getting HDR which is good news.

Could you give details on that "bunch of things that make consoles inferior" related to gaming ?

Cause the hardware is basically an AMD x64 APU for the PS4/pro as well as the Xbox One/One X. The xbox one can use dx11, the one X dx12, the ps4/pro supports only dx11 for now. Those APUs were sold on laptops/netbooks and ran windows.

The Xbox uses a modified Windows 10, the PS4 a custom OS (but with both you use a SDK to dev/port games on it, from a PC).

Lower performance and lack of kbm aside, they are gaming PCs.
