Any news on Beta upgrade yet?

I backed the game on Kickstarter for £35 but now I want to upgrade the the Standard Beta test. But I dont want to waste £50 if that price includes a copy of the game that I have paid for already.

So is there going to be introduced at any point a way of upgrading my pledge to include the Beta? Surely for me it would just mean paying another £15! I might even consider upgrading to Alpha at some point or the Premium Beta.

Frontier are losing out on a lot of potential extra sales here surely? There must be loads of Kickstarter backers now wanting to upgrade to Beta or Alpha.

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned when the Alpha upgrade was first offered that this would be an option at some point

Well you can, from the shop, pay the difference from your current £35 to the alpha cost of £200(?) as at today, so you would pay an extra £165.

see this thread - http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=10884

I would guess, and it is no more than a guess, that a similar regime will be placed as and when premium beta arrives/is imminent (so if that was £150 you'd pay £115 for example), then normal beta, and possibly gamma.

omg please god pls dear god please i cant wait any longer i have no 200 pounds.. i need i want pls i want that game omg pls..

i am really crying pls dont make fun of me, i cant hold it back any longer

Yes well I suppose I will just have to wait and see what happens when the Betas arrive.

But there must be lots of renewed interest in this after the recent magazine coverage and this show, you'd think they would capitalise on that and release the Beta upgrade program straight away, no real benefit in waiting till the last minute. The way my finances are at the moment I would rather pay into them gradually - Beta upgrade then maybe Premium Beta upgrade then maybe Alpha upgrade over a few months (assuming the Alpha drags on).

I'm in the alpha, and I'd say that you'd be better off looking at premium beta or beta, not the alpha.... It's a lot of money to pay for what may only be a couple of weeks of set scenarios etc.

If they hold to what has come before, Premium Beta upgrades will be offered after the Premium Beta backers have had a chance to get in there first?
I, too, want to upgrade my 'backed' account from Regular Beta to Premium Beta and I HOPE we get the opportunity sooner than later. I could certainly just add the expansion pass to that account, happily continue playing Alpha then Beta on this account BUT I believe in E: D to the point of willingly paying £15 extra for the priviledge to take over my primary account sooner. Yes, my kid will be happier sooner but he's content with Minecraft LOL

Beta 1 probably wont start until sometime in May if Frontier keeps with the same pattern of each phase lasting approximately 1-1.5 months long.

They release a phase, then have a patch for it - next time it's updated its the new phase. So we have docking & outfitting now, then travel & trading...I'm guessing at least another 2 months to go for Beta 1 which might still make the Alpha price worth it.

I suspect that the travel & trade alpha by its very nature will be huge and might go on a bit longer than the others. Technically the multi-player instancing was a massive thing to implement but it runs into the other Alpaha builds and will be tweaked into Alpha 3+4.

I've never been excited by something so fundamentally boring before :p

I have a feeling that we wont be seeing the 100 Billion star systems until at least Gamma.

Possibly but if that Alpha includes the galaxy simulation in some form along with the background stuff then its going to be quite a watershed integration for the game. Should put Beta firmly on the radar.

Certainly that Frontier will apply the same principle to the béta. The upgrade towards the alpha has brought of many backers. An upgrade towards the béta, would bring even more of backers. It would be a not sense financial, not to allow an update

Micheal posted a while back that they will be offering the option to upgrade to Beta. However I can't find that post now. But he did say it will be happening.

I asked ashley how to upgrade from game £35 to premuim beta she sai there is no way as of yet I assume when beta comes nearer they will give us the option, I too payed £35 for the game and also bought the expansion pass so another £15 for me to get to standard beta I will do if they offer the discounted version.

The upgrade to Alpha was not made available until the alpha was released. I would expect the same upgrade option when the beta stage is live.

I believe Alpha was around a month old when they opened up credit/upgrade/purchase to post-backers.
Yes, I made the same mistake. Still feel bad and apologized privately.

After watching lots of videos I was going to either beg, steal or borrow the extra money and upgrade my beta premium now so I can get on the alpha but then I thought that having to wait about 2 more months for the beta really isn't too long after waiting 20 years for the game to be made.

Yeah, I'd recommend waiting. You guys might not be able to see it from the videos, but the latest Alpha is rougher than it looks. 100% get into Beta 1 though. What you get for Alpha access is the privilege of complaining about everything in the Alpha forums, which happens a lot more than you'd think - so you're in good hands :)
