Any news on Beta upgrade yet?

I suppose its easy to get encouraged by whats going on at the moment to drop £100 or £200 for the alpha/beta, but I think that would be a bit daft really considering I know myself that I really dont want to play Elite Dangerous until its complete.

I have bought Early Access games before and usually get fed up with them well before they are released properly.

So if I can hold off and stick with the released game I am sure I will be happier in the end. I know also I really dont want to bother testing it, I just want to play the game, like, now! I made an active decision during the Kicksterter that the £30 level was the maximum I could afford, would be stupid to ruin that quite sensible decision which was made well after the euphoria of the Kickstarter had ended. Guess I will just be patient. I really do hate Beta games in the main!

would that be the same as upping the kickstarter level, as in it will have the previous tiers contents (like different start options in the game, etc) or not?

No the Kickstarter benefits are frozen now, all you would be getting extra is the Beta access for an extra £50. You will probably be able to purchase starting options separately once the game has been released or just before. They will probably be one of the last things added to the store.

First pass (Premium) Beta is £100. WHEN/IF it's offered it will be (if done the same as alpha upgrade) the DIFFERENCE is what you'd have to pay (£80 in that case) which would include premium beta and all you see in store associated with premium beta. You'd make sure you are logged in and after adding to cart you'd see the difference when you checkout.
Whatever extras from backer/KS (pre zaonce store) should transfer forward (CMDR name or whatever extras).
I'm hoping to upgrade my backer acct from 2nd round beta to 1st round beta (rather than just adding expansion pass)

I have a feeling that we wont be seeing the 100 Billion star systems until at least Gamma.

One of the definitions of a beta release is that it is "feature complete".

Yes well I suppose I will just have to wait and see what happens when the Betas arrive.

But there must be lots of renewed interest in this after the recent magazine coverage and this show, you'd think they would capitalise on that and release the Beta upgrade program straight away, no real benefit in waiting till the last minute. The way my finances are at the moment I would rather pay into them gradually - Beta upgrade then maybe Premium Beta upgrade then maybe Alpha upgrade over a few months (assuming the Alpha drags on).
