Any news on cross platform PC - Xbox One

Well, as it says in the title really! having just seen that Psyonix announced yesterday that Rocket League will soon be cross platform, has there been any news as to FDEV planning on doing the same for ED?

I dont think you know what that means.. offcourse it will be fun.
but getting updates out on the xbox is allot more hassle than on the pc.

I would be very surprised if this ever happens. Whether you believe it's a factor or not, I can foresee the calls of "unfair advantage" from those on XBOX versus the PC players with their triple-screen, VR/headlook-enabled, HOTAS-wielding, macro-enabled setups :)

I would like to see it but only if Microsoft stop delaying patches. I rather have no cross platform and have faster bug fixes than cross platform with xbox and less and slower bug fixes and updates.

dam! it was my sig that gave me away wasn't it! duh!

seriously though, i do share your doubts about it happening, but mainly because i think it might be difficult for FDEV to maintain parity / simultaneous development between the two platforms

I think they might have changed their policy, at least that's what was alluded to in articles talking about Rocket league, but it was never stated which policy(ies) it was that have changed

You won't hear that from us.

There is game called war thunder that is cross platform between pc and ps4. They always release patch and send it to Sony same time. End of the patch notes say: "PS4 Users will receive the update as soon as possible."

Sony is surprisingly quick with those updates.

i have nothing against playing with xbox users, but i want frontier to remove bugs that ruin my game as fast as possible rather than have little higher change to see other player in open. Having xbox users in cross platform in ed doesn't give me benefits so i don't care about it if it doesn't take anything from me. In rocket league cross platform give benefit in form of faster matchmaking.

That would be nice , if it does not slow down updates... or link to more graphical downgrades.
More players is allways a good thing...

EDIT : Oh and , and GG for the xbox gamers who will be able to witness 2.0/2.1 soon ! , I hope you all have fun

People kept saying the same thing on War Thunder on Sim mode, with players with their HOTAS and Tracker IR versus us with a single controller. Well, my humble Spitfire was doing quite well against those might at-advantage-top-end-setup players.
Tell them to get good and they'll stop complaining about unfair advantage.

That's one of the reasons why i think it might be interesting, particularly for Arena

Any time this question has been posed to the Frontier staff that would know best, they have always said NO Cross Platform plans for Elite Dangerous. This has been a constant since the game first came out. Unlike other often requested features where they will not flat out say never and will leave the door of hope opened just a tiny crack, this has not been the case here.

For one thing... There is a lot more involved in pulling this off well than most people realize. It also sounded to me like ED was not designed for this type of thing, and making it work within the current framework just isn't a viable option.

Considering that they have still not managed to stabilize instancing for the MP system we already have, it would be quite a stretch to realistically expect to ever see a true multi-platform multi-player option.

In other words... I wouldn't hold your breath. ;)
