Ships any news on the Diamondback yet?

when is 1.3 beta starting?

I go nutz about the Diamondback waiting for News every day since I first saw the concept Art!

What a gorgeous ship!

I bet the newsletter tomorrow will reveal a new diamondback ingame-screenshot! :D

In the meantime you could participate in the Alliance CG at Wolf 406 to get a nice discount ...

A dedicated explorer needs to far exceed the current 40LY jump range the Conda provides. Here's hoping it actually does.

Not this again... My expectations are for something equivalent to an Asp, but costing less and without the interior space, hence "cut price combat/explorer".

Cheaper than an ASP?!?! There are far enough cheap ships! ASP and Vulture are in one bracket than we got Dropship and Clipper in the next bracket and than Python....
I rather wish to see the Diamindback between Dropship/Clipper and Python at around 35 Million... that would be perfect!

And how about for those of us who don't want to show allegiance to the empire or the feds? We have to jump a gap of over 30 mil to get to the next non-trader ship after the ASP? Heck, I only use my ASP for exploration, for combat I use a vulture. So 40 mil before most people can afford the next non ASP,, non trading ship? That is pretty ridiculous to me. I think It should be in the 10-20 mil price range. By the way, sorry for me being angry, but many people (including me) won't bother with the trade grind and don't care for the feds/imps and find ourselves stuck at the vulture or ASP which in itself is highly frustrating when you can hope to get the fer-de-lance/python and properly outfit/insure them within a year or two of playing.

Nothing wrong with cheap ships. If I were developing the game, the Diamondback would be a combat focused Asp. Think same price, similar speed, jump range, and armor/shield values (just reversed to fit the theme of combat ships having stronger shield values over armor values). The major departures would be weapon hardpoints (3M, 1L) and internals (1x C5, 4x C3, 2x C1).

All the art and hints we've seen simply don't support the idea that the ship will be 20-30m Cr. I'm probably wrong, since they tried to do that with the Vulture. It's a powerful ship, sure, but nothing about it screamed 20 million credits.

We're still expecting many more ships beyond the Courier and Diamondback. There will be something to slot into the space between the Asp and Python, eventually. We still have the Clipper and Dropship to sit in that space, and ideally there should be one that doesn't require a navy rank. Perhaps 1.4 will focus entirely on filling out the ship ranks.

@Kalofabaer... yeah it could be in the bracket of dropship/Clipper without signing up to anything... I like that too...
Regarding trrading, I never did it, I made 85 Million in bountyhunting so far... as an example it took me 4 days from 30 Million to 65 in the Vulture... was a dedicated Weekend... so reaching a python without trading is no Problem...

Wow.... I never have time to play Elite for more than 6 or 7 hours a week. And have not made over 25 mil in bounties. Anyways, I apollogise for assuming that you are a trader, but certainly I can't be the only one who is stuck on the vulture/asp level and finds it frustrating that the next step requires supporting Bureaucrats or Imperialist slavers?

;) the wife is away on a businesstrip so I have enough time on the weekends and evenings until she is back at the end of the month... The Diamondback could very well be for the Alliance what dropship and Clipper are for Federation and Empire...

No matter how much I would love if the Diamondback was an Alliance exclusive ship, I seriously doubt it. Here is why. If the Diamondback was an Alliance ship, it would require an Alliance naval rank which do not exist yet and since that is a major change, would have been announced already for 1.3, unless it could be bought upon becoming "allied" with the alliance, but then that would just be too easy and could even be earned by accident (that is why I am allied with the feds atm). Second, since there is a CG to build them that also offers a discount on them, then people who have no desire to become allied with the Alliance would probably feel that they did a CG to earn a discount on a ship that they can't access. Anyway, just my two cents.

Good Point about the CG Discount! ;) I will be happy if she is dropship/Clipper priced without ranking anywhere ;) lets hope for that than...
