Any old a.f.e types around still?

Hey
just got round to joining the forums, wondering if any of the old a.f.e mob are still hanging around, being vaguely scruffy & disreputable.

I was Ericsen (mainly, iirc) on there, was kind of involved in the galNet thing back then, which was handy, as playing around with that basically got me started in programming, which is how I can afford to be in PB

Oh & I played Eve for a long while, & was in Agony Unleashed for a time(one of the well known/respected pure PvP corps in that game).

So, erm, hi, and see you in space

Welcome aboard, dim memories of a time long ago, though only tended to dip in and out occasionally.

In between playing Elite TNK, Oolite and trying to get JJFFE to run.

Yep, I was long timer at AFE - mainly via Google Groups/Deja News. It used to be quite active back 98-99 when I was posting (although I stopped circa 2004 IIRC). Even David Braben used to post there at the time.

I can't back it up, but I have an idea I got the first post in on afe around 1995... I assumed it was about the game, apparently it was created for fans of elite models.

ah yes, I was never sure whether that was just a joke on the part of the admin who newgrouped it, or whether it was the most comprehensively hijacked newsgroup in usenet history

that name seems very familiar, Mr M who used to have a site about old acorn(or c64?) games, if my memory isn't completely shot

I read and posted in a.f.e back when Mr. Breadbin used to show his face and deny requests for Elite 4. I imagine that's a good decade ago now...

Not completely shot, but a slight data error, t'was the multitasking marvel, that is the Amiga, no less. And what's this "used to" rubbish?

Well, it's a relief my memory isn't completely faulty, and picked a computer that started with A

Still got it running, that's impressive, that's at least 12 years, isn't it?

Old a.f.e. lurker here too - I was young and foolish, but do remember the excitement of some direct interaction with Bradbin on there back in the day, and the occasional direct email conversation. The IRC channel is still going as well - I hang around in from time to time.

My website about Frontier is still only and about 16 years old now. Not updated it much lately

I was in a.f.e for... years and years. I posted under Ceowulf. I remember many flame wars (Lewis) and many fun conversations.

We kept the flame alive for a LONG time. Until it seemed all hope for a new Elite had died.
