...before I raise a support ticket and its not just my machine.

It did it to me when I was in the CG run to drop off Onion Head too earlier this evening. (after interdiction only)

Have to alt tab and kill the exe and restart game.

Even if it's just you it's worth submitting a ticket. It may be a specific something causing it to happen that points to a deeper problem in the code.

One thing worth checking is your bandwidth either by using a monitor or pressing Ctrl+B in game. Sometimes the game hangs or lags because your connection is temporarily broken to the servers, I had it up to 2 minutes once in hyperspace (usually 8-10 seconds) due to an electrical storm and the gap was too long and it asked me to re-log in.

Edit: Sounds similar to this, I don't see how or why but maybe try to verify game files either via steam (usual method) or by launcher (Options -> validate game files).

I haven't seen this one. Maybe a problem with the internet connection (in general, not necessarily at your end). You might try to hit CTRL-B to see if data transfers are still being done.

Na never happened to me before, just this evening. I'll carry on tomorrow and if it plays up I'll log a ticket.

I have had that happen but I just cancelled it. It also killed my internet connection which never happened before. Someone else reported having the same problem. Only happened after the latest patch. Happened a few times but hasn't happened since. If it starts happening often I will log a ticket.
