What I mean by the question in the title of this thread is for all its potential bredth, and despite having the biggest gamepla area ever in a game, there is only a few things we can do in Elite, fly spaceships or zoom about in a buggy. As such there are bound to be gameplay styles that you itch to play, that elite doesnt accomodate. One general example could be racing, so you could dip into project cars 2, or if you want something a bit more scifi, Vector 36. Reason I ask is I'd love to get an insight into what direction you'd like to see Elite expand.
For me, the FPS itch wasn't scratched by Modern Warfare, as I felt it was a bit too arcady, I prefer somethign more tactical than machine gunnining a never ending swarm based. Sadly I suspect that the upcoming FPS against thargoids is going to go down this route of an endless streem of thargoids wating to get machine gunned. To scratch the stealth itch, I'm probably going to dip my toes in the waters of ARMA. Similarly I'd prefer something that rewards stealth, and I'm likely to play the later installments of the Splintercell franchise. Also the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 is likely to captivate me for a month or two, as I like the look and feel of it, and the non linear story line really appeals to me. As for vechicle based games, Redout in my opinon is what a dedicated elite universe racing vehcile would look like so I'm downloading that just now. The new mechwarrior, by virtue of being a mercs game, is, as well as scratching a battletech itch, going to appeal to my desire for a salvage / management style of play. I mean imaine after winning a CZ being able to mount a mission to recover a few plasma accelerators and other modules...
So thats my other games confessions, and a glimpse into what enthralls me about them, and as such I hope you see the potential relevance to (future relases of) Elite, whats your things you get from other games that you would like to see integrated into elite. For example, I'm sure Elite would lend itself to a business economy based Real Time Strategy gameplay model being put in as a feature...
