Horizons Any planets with fast rotation / short day?

Has anyone come across any particularly fast rotating planets? Wondered if there were any that you can see the starfield rotate much or land shadows change over time?

I know about Mitterand and its fast orbit obviously but it seems to rotate relative to it's sun fairly slowly.

Well, there is Mitterand Hollow in Epsilon Indi.

It doesn't SPIN that fast (It does, actually) , but it orbits really fast, so it's not exactly night and day, but you get planetary eclipses every about a minute and a half. :)
So it does make for some spectacular experience.

Just a word of advice - it actually outruns you in supercruise, so you have to be crafty, if you want to land there. ;)

It's pretty hard to miss the land shadows moving if you land somewhere on the terminator between night and day, somewhere Equatorial. The stars moving is a little harder to spot. I haven't noticed it myself.

I don't have any example of fast rotating planets to offer, but keep in mind that the faster a planet orbits (ie close orbit), the more likely it's going to have long days if it's not tidally locked yet. If I were you I would focus on young, preferably massive systems.

Yeah I'm keeping an eye out for similar.

I've also been wondering what theoretically could be the max spin of a planet. Gas giants seem to be the fastest spinning in our system. Maybe when we get the option to land at stations in a gas giant's upper atmosphere... :)

Was also reading about Haumea having a 4 hour rotational period so maybe some very small bodies would fir the bill. Shame it's not in :(

I remember hunting down all the exotic stars i could think of when i first got this game - was quite bummed when most of everything i wanted to see was not there. How naive i was to think the game engine would consider accretion and conservation of angular momentum. Im ok with them faking it though...

Mitterrand Hollow is definitely an experience, I recommend it to everyone. It is crazy to have a planet outrun you in supercruise. I found it was easiest to get in the orbital path of it and just let the planets gravity pick you up. Once you've landed it is cool to see the parent planet fly past every 90 or so seconds.
