Any plans afoot for NPC's AI?

Just wondering if FD intend to improve the AI of NPC's, especially in the docks where they just don't seem to register CMDR's at all, and just fly straight at us?!?!? :S

Still, it makes for interesting flying.....;)
 
They're the ones on the traffic control system... you're the one screwing around and flying where you please. The world is a windshield and CMDRs are the flies!
 
'Tis a good point.

I bet the NPCs have their own forum about all the other human commanders who don't obey traffic laws when entering and exiting stations. I.e., get into the queue and wait your turn instead of just speeding through. :)

AI.. Artificial Intelligence... The NPC's in ED have none as far as I can see. They take forever to dock and in a fight are simply laughable. Either the devs tuned them down or simply used very bad AI code.
 
Yeh, the AI does need work. In combat they frequently just roll around like dying fish while I tear up their hull. How do AI handle someone using a docking computer? Any horror stories? I was tempted to buy one just for novelty - it plays Blue Danube! - but it seemed REALLY slow to dock in the videos so didnt bother.
 
I played solo for a couple of days because I got sick of getting blown to bits by getting boosted into and noticed no NPC getting stuck and killed in stations, no charging/ramming or any other crazy AI behavior. As if human presence confuses them. o.0
