Any plans to use the Vulkan API and move away from Direct X?

Hi

I was wondering if Frontier have any plans to use the Vulkan API in place of Direct X. The reason I ask is that it would allow Elite Dangerous to be supported under Linux using the Steam Proton. At the moment Elite is not working at all under Proton I would love to switch to Ubuntu. If Elite use Vulkan their is no bottleneck using Proton as it directly using Vulkan anyway.

Anyway food for thought.

DC out.

Then they would have to code against 3 different API's...

DirectX on XBox
GNM/GNMX on PS4

And your suggestion, Vulkan on Windows.

And is the Graphics API what is causing the problems with running ED in Wine/Proton?
