Any remaining position for bounty hunting since 1.07 patch left ?

Resource extraction sites (or in slang "puke sites") are not compatible with VR, those sites usually have enough spawns with enemies.
As I moved to ASP I need a LOT of cobras or better higher ships to make any sort of money for an upgrade (like 15 mil per good upgrade)

So far it worked to "hunt" in planteray rings. shooting a few hundred ships then cashing off. After 10-15 hours an upgrade was earned.
There were rarely any police vessels at all (maybe 2 in 4 hours) and if no enemies spawned it took 5 minutes of instance hopping to find one.

Now with 1.07 Frontier turned the spawning down, instead of enemies only police vessels spawn now and rarely a sidewinder or an eagle (maybe 4 or 5 enemies in 2 hours of frustration).
I tried around 30 instances and 4 different systems, no difference.

I consider planetary rings as ruined now for bounty hunting.
Is there ANYTHING left in 1.07 where money can be made? Like 1-2 mil per hour ?

Huh?

I think you are doing something wrong matey. Works fine in VR for me, and the three Anaconda's that I torched last night appear to disagree with your comments.

I am not talking about last night.
I have been doing the same thing for days as it's the only thing I could do.

But since today with the patch 1.07 I find no enemies anymore. And I do everything as I did before.
Only clean or police spawns.

@Frog: it's not a repeat because VR users can't go to RES points.
Planetary rings was, so far, the only point where I could find enough bounties to make the endless grind a bit worth the time (1+mil per hour).
Maybe there is another position left without the framerate bugs of RES.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a planetary ring? Is it just the same as a RES except you don't drop out at the RES markers?

Any planet with rings.
Before 1.06 you fly in the ring and you get spawns without miners and FPS drop judder.
The FPS judder comes from an error in the game engine, if there are too many objects it reduces the framerate to reduce network traffic (so I was told and it matches with my experience).

So RES are incompatible with VR but the better spawns were in planetary rings anyway. Well I guess it's over now ;/

Again... Huh?

I think you need to upgrade your system if you are having framerate issues. Thats not a bug.

V1.07 + RES sites are ok. What are your specs?

It's not a GPU or CPU proble, I'm on SLI 980 and I have the same judder on 640x resolution and lowest settings.
It's an engine bug acknowledged by Frontier support (without solution however). It's the only ticket they answered actually ;/

I've Rifted in extraction sites since release using the DK2 without any issue, including last night for fun.

But more to the problem, is that bounty hunting after an Asp, its pretty difficult to bring in the coins, and since you are bounty hunting the next viable ship would at best be a clipper (which is a downgrade from the Asp combat wise).

Phier, could you go into a RES scenario with many npcs in between the rocks (not outside) and monitor your framerate ?
I have done long and extensive tests with one and 2 980 and with any graphic settings you can imagine (even so low and blurry you can't see anything anymore) and I got consistent 55 fps.

However I also had some situations/instances where it worked judderfree. Rarely.
I documented it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9P0A11VbAE

hmmmmm, i just done 400k in 20mins in RES, 75fps locked in the rift, 1080p mind, didnt like 1440p much, all good really

Confirmed - there's absolutely nothing wrong with RES sites on my system, also dual 980's. Multiple sites, big bounties, lots of targets, lots of fun.

If you are having issues with RES sites, then I reckon you have a system issue. It's no good saying you have dual 980's if the rest of your system is lacking.

I7 4790k, 2x980, 16gig ram, fresh win 8.1 install, no other programs running, rift as primary and no multi monitor.

You also got win 8.1 ?

Just did, I had no lag, no issues, not even a jitter, or is that judder? I get those confused. Mind you I am running 980's now but I could still play no problem at all with 770's SLI (bit of stutter). Something is wrong I think, maybe do a clean driver install? I'm using the latest drivers too, rift in external mode and I even leave my main monitor on (its 120hz so no issue there).

In fact today I took an underequipped viper and got beat up by an anaconda so I hid behind a asteroid while it tried to shoot through it to get me and other ships were mining only a few meters away.

I was in an RES, in the rocks, and there were 10 system eagles, 2 vipers and an anaconda, plus two bounty hunters in a cobra and a sidewinder, all chasing one wanted anaconda. Frame rate was just fine. The only problem I sometimes get is when tracking goes off and causes a jitter, fixed by putting both hands over the front of the headset to reset it. I've hunted almost exclusively in RES's before and after 1.07, no real problems at all. My system is an old i5 cpu, gtx970, everything set to ultra and downsampled from 1440p.

Using the latest drivers too. Edit - and Win 7.

Might be related to Windows 8 then ?

If you looked at the youtube video you can see that my framerate is low while my CPU and GPU are both nearly idle.
It is not utilizing the hardware.
Something causes it to wait/delay.

Maybe it is because I am from EU ? That there is indeed network traffic and my ping limits the framerate more than from a US player ?

How it is possible ? Like Lirezh, I definitly not have this kind of performance in RES. Best I can do with everything at low, no DSR and solo mode is ~55fps... And I have a similar configuration.
There is something wrong here, are you using SLI ? Did you do anything special on your configuration ? Are you using the rift ??? (yeah seem strange to ask this in the VR forum but some people do not ever check where they are posting...)

My specs :
  • Gainward GeForce GTX 970 Phantom with latest drivers (347.25)
  • Intel core I5 2500k @ 3.30ghz
  • 8gb ram @668mhz
  • Win8.1 64

I'm from EU like Lirezh, but I can't believe that can be that... In solo mode I doubt the network traffic are high... Any way to check this ? Ping the servers maybe ?
Also, people not complaining about performance in RES seem to use Windows 7. Pretty strange, but it's maybe the cause.
There is someone who uses Windows 8.1 with a GTX 970 without performance problem ?
Edit : Just watched the YouTube video, I have exactly the same problem as Lirezh. At first there is no judder, after 1 min in RES, judder is starting and my framerate can't go more than 55 fps. Graphical settings set to low or high have no effect at all.

My spec is basically very similar to yours. Only differences are I'm on Win 7 64 bit, and I have 12Gb RAM. The RAM I'm sure isn't significant, it's not like the game is loading Gb of textures, even if the loading it does isn't optimised. The weird jitter I get I'm pretty sure is related to my camera being at a bad angle, rather than anything in game. It's not related to the game being busy as I discovered doing some luxury trading the other day - it just kicks in randomly every so often. I need to do some experimentation with camera position to see if I can improve it. But I get no real problems in RES's. I did get some slowdown in a High Intensity Conflict Zone, but that had an insane amount of ships in it.

PS I'm also in EU - in the UK on high speed fibre optic.

hmmm,

im not running 'high' settings.

shadows, AA and AO off

effects are low, textures medium, with max model draw distance

fps are better in viper/eagle than cobra, however, i was in cobra when i posted here.

the only thing ill say is, some RES are more laggy than others, i was only commenting on the 'only' RES iv been to since 1.07 and to be fair it was in jupiter, so maybe have something to do with less rings. i was getting drops into the mid 60s on 1.05 with old driver at lhs 1875 RES,

card is the gtx970 galax infinity black thing from overclockers, over clocked to 1500mhz,

the best way to test this is if all rock up at the same place at the same time and compare notes so to speak.

id overclock that CPU to 4+ghz and is the RAM speed correct that you posted KospY?

add me online and well go check it out ;) or tell me which system to go to and ill take a look at my fps whilst there

peace

MM

other things, CPU core parking is disabled as is C1E state and all that other similar stuff,............... and hyperthreading is ON
