I have only recently noticed that Hip 74290 and more importantly Pratchett's Disc (a memorial to the Great Sir Terry ) and the Ankh guards are under a sustained attack from a Player Faction and thought I would bring it to everyones notice . It is too late as the Player Faction has taken Pratchetts Disc .

Looking at this you put a Memorial station to the late and great Sir Terry Pratchett with the Ankh guards (as a tip to his Books )as the main Faction and then put a Player faction in that system ?? so the only way the Player faction can control or expand the system is to remove the Ankh Guards as the controlling faction ?? well thought out Fdev well thought out . 🤦‍♂️

Vetinari is not amused by this news.

PMFs need reigning in as they destroy gameplay and fun for people who dont want to spend all day doing BGS just to keep some fun places fun or meaningful.

If Frontier inserted them into this system then was bound to happen, if they expanded from next door they might be willing to be 2nd after expanding out again. Has anybody tried talking to them? Im not on Discord which they probably are.

Would take a concerted effort to push them back down against their will and keep them there.

Though we are HAPPY to put the original owners back in charge if that helps...

If you are said faction then yes it would be immensely appreciated. Willing to help if you want to expand out to another system beforehand. This system is purely an homage to a brilliant storyteller who died a few years ago and would be better if it stayed that way.

The Turtle Moves....

Edit: for clarity

According to Inara, they're native to Hip 74290. So no throwing them out, which means that they can always seize control again.

Edit: also, if they want to expand, they have no other choice than doing what they are doing right now. The right moment to kick them down would be after the expansion, when they're fighting for influence in their new system.

Not good...

There are already systems that are BGS locked - it would have made much more sense to have made this system BGS locked to retain its unique flavour...

Carcosa would have been good to have been locked also...

No. We are the Hutton Truckers and we help people... That's what we do. If anyone needs a hand, just shout!

As an avid Pratchett fan (I have most of the books in hardback...), I'd just like to say that it doesn't bother me in the slightest who controls Pratchett's Disc. It certainly shouldn't be sacrosanct.

So, if it bothers people, go and sort it out. :D

@Sapyx pointed out elsewhere that player factions are actually hugely changing the composition of populated space. Since they are mainly independent they have caused the Federation to actually shrink to half the size it was at launch and the Empire has also been reduced but by a smaller amount.

Maybe F D needs to re-visit the situation as regards PMFs.

Sir Terry always railed against war as he knew that it was the innocents who got hurt the most. If a diplomatic solution is available it would be preferred. Whilst the Scorpion Pit is always an option (and mandatory for Mime Artists ofc) it would be better if we can help the PMF achieve their goals (if expansion is what they want) and then they can give up their claim to the Disc and support the Ankh Guards to maintain peace for all.

Having worked for TTW for months I know we have accidentally stepped on peoples toes without even intending to, it might be the same here.

Knowing the Truckers are on board is a massive boost, thank you, but hopefully we can avoid the need for violence and settle this without open war.

Shame on Frontier for putting them here as their home though. Guaranteed to cause all sorts of problems and bad feeling.

Is anyone from that faction on here and willing to talk?
