General / Off-Topic Any Star Trek fans out there?

And by star trek fans I mean The Original Series, the Next Generation and Deep Space Nine?
Because there appear to be be many many small things which make this the greatest star trek game we will ever see.

Small things like the Founders world no points for that one
The way the weapons/lasers work
Many many more which I can't remember but it honestly looks like the generation who were influenced most by the good old star trek have taken that and put it into this game.

Braben has talked about star trek in allot of interviews, so he is clearly influenced by it.
but he has always said that he wished to make it better by adding more realism, like for example having spinning stations to have a real explanation to why they have gravity.

and to answer your question, yes i love star trek, but i love almost anything sci-fi

whenever i meet a player on release i'll be like

" Rai and Jiri at Lungha"

then pause.

"Rai of Lowani. Lowani under two moons. Jiri of Ubaya. Ubaya of crossed roads at Lungha. Lungha, her sky grey. Rai and Jiri at Lungha. "

i'll say, seeming impatient. at this point the player should be suitably confused, and whenever he replies, i'll say -

Kadir beneath Mo Moteh.

The river Temarc! In winter.

Shaka, when the walls fell.

Darmok.

Darmok at Tanagra.

Shaka! Mirab, his sails unfurled.

Darmok.

Mirab.

Temarc! The river Temarc.

Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra. Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra. Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra. Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra. Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra. Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra.

What about Voyager and Enterprise I also love Star Trek Online and I hope that this game gets close to that one someday with all there is to do in the game.

enterprise broke canon too much. romulans, ferengi etc. no war with klingons

voyager was more stationary and stale than DS9 by far and DS9 was litterally set on a stationary station

STO is bad

JJ abrahms admitted he doesn't care about star trek. i hate him so much. he made stormtroopers into melty latex people.

I guess you thought I meant that you liked the Star Trek Franchise, I meant to say that I like it, and that's just how it is, sorry if you don't get it.
What JJ did isn't really Star Trek, it's just CG movies and lens flares. What made Star Trek is the storytelling, not the setting.
STO is awesome and has so much more to do in game than just fly and never land or walk.

Hah, I know when I'm a Trek fan when I look at this and know exactly what it's all about lol! Great episode.

Sokath, his eyes opened! 😉

What is this star trek you people are talking about?

Just kidding - huge fan of exactly the three series mentioned in the OP. For some reason, I could never warm up to voyager - didn't like most characters, except maybe the doctor. And enterprise... no comment.

I love all the Star Treks for different reasons but STTNG is my favorite. I even own a 1993 STTNG Pinball machine. I'm about 50% done restoring and upgrading it with LEDs, new guns, new plasma etc.

I have played that on an emulator. It is one of the best pinball games ever invented.
Also agree TNG is the best. It just has so many levels. Possibly the clearest transmission of Roddenberry's vision.

edit: should mention for those that have avoided Enterprise series. It is well worth watching a few episodes until you hate the characters and then watch the two part "In a Mirror, Darkly" episode. Those two episodes are brilliant but cannot be appreciated unless you have got sick of the series before watching them.
