Any success with 970/980 SLI and DSR with DK2?

Hi folks! I was curious if anyone else has a pair of 970s or 980s, and can get the 'dynamic super resolution' (i.e. render at 2560x1440) to work properly with the DK2?

I have an i7-2600k (i.e. PCI-express 2.0),and 2x MSI Gaming 970s in SLI, and when i try to render at any resolution higher than 1920x1080 for my rift, I get flickering.. it used to be a lot worse with the release driver, but it still flickers with the latest Nvidia driver.

for the reocrd my 970 SLI setup works flawlessly at 1920x1080 with the latest elite beta, just not with DSR ..

Thanks,
John

still waiting for my 780's to show up, but as a workaround you could experiment with setting up a custom resolution for the DK2 in the nivida control panel. Would be interested to see how that fares... i tried 2560 x 1440 on a single 780ti and it had a pretty low framerate but that was a few Betas ago.

I did try that - both that method and the 'DSR' method, and still get the flickering.. although it doesn't happen with a single 970. Thanks..

I think this is normal for SLI and DSR enabled. I tied it at various resolutions with gtx 980 SLI and it flickers more the higher res you pick. Maybe the nvidia vr direct drivers will help when they finally surface? That's what I'm waiting for but I'm just using a single card now with SLI off because there's slightly less latency with head turning, and frame rates are good with a single card and graphics set to high.

I have 2x980, and the only problem with SLI with VR is that the only two forms of SLI available to us are inefficient for VR.
They are Alternate Frame Rendering 1 (AFR1) and Alternate Frame Rendering 2 (AFR2). Both are only effective for monitors.
Using AFR adds about 15-20 ms of latency to your head movement, which is far too much for VR.
In some cases, you can feel a sense that something is "off" even though it's difficult to define it.
Other people will get motion sick immediately in VR with AFR on.

What we need for VR is the VR SLI solution that Nvidia is working on in their VR Direct driver suite. This solution will be a form of SFR (Split Frame Rendering) in which both eyes are rendered simultaneously on different cards.

I sure wish they'd hurry up with it, too! Kinda frustrated that they declared their new cards would have all these features, so I bought two of them, and then realized that, no, they don't have those features. And at the rate their going, I worry that by the time the features are out, so will be the next iteration of hardware.

Hi guys!

I'm successfully running Elite Dangerous with the DK2 and 2 980 in SLI w/ DSR. But only in extended mode, on Direct Mode I get the flickering. Running at 2580x1440 and it is great! improves the readability of text.

So I have to say I was very surprised to find that running Elite Dangerous in SLI on my gtx 680 runs better for me in the DK2 than using a single card. With SLI activated I am running the game on maximum settings and everything is buttery smooth. No judder in stations at all anymore. I am using DSR at 2560x1440 and it works like a charm. I didn't expect it to work, but for some reason it seems to.

I am running in extended mode however, not direct mode.

Could you devine butterry smooth?
What's the framerate?
Click ctrl f and remove your left lens at the station of the last training mission please.
and 2 look around fast in the same station. Does it judder?
Then the spec's of your sys...

I have 2 970 G1 Gaming in SLI, running DSR and a res of 2580x1440 with a green coloured GUI.

Runs really smooth but only in extended mode. In Direct it flickers horribly.....

Smooth as silk all the time.

Graphic setting on ultra.

I had once (by mistake) not enabled SLI - and got some fps issues just sitting in the dock of a space station. Once SLI enabled, back to smooth.....

Nosh

Could you share the exact settings please? I've opened a topic because I only get a black screen with DSR: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=114549
