Any THRUSTER EXPERTS out there? - I need some help trying to understand what differences I should be seeing.

Like the subject title asks...

I'm gradually outfitting my ASP and getting things upgraded. I have made a few increases in my THRUSTER MOUNTING class, but I am having trouble really seeing/feeling any significant difference in the ship's performance and handling while in normal space. I am currently running with an A4 version, and it looks like adding an A5 is going to reduce my Jump range which I would prefer not to do.

What exactly does a higher rated class of Thruster module get you anyway? What aspects of the ship's performance should I be seeing improvements by adding a higher class Mounting?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not 100% on this as I'm a noob too, started on Xbox preview, but if u look at the optimal mass and maximum mass and it goes up, it means u can put heavier modules on ur ship. Such as, if u r trading and go to a high tech base for the biggest cargo racks, they will b heavier, and loaded will b even heavier. Without proper propulsion u won't b able to fly that heavy ship

Bassically you can carry more, plus your optimal mass is made higher. If you go below optimal mass by up to 50% the ship will perform better with max benefit at 50% of optimal mass incluging speed turning responsiveness.

Increased top speed, increased boost speed, and increased maneuverability[while maneuvering at optimal speed]. Higher end thrusters can also accommodate a heavier ship. The drawback is the increased power draw from your powerplant.

For some ships, having maxed out thrusters isn't optimal because you will have to make a power sacrifice somewhere else.

It seems there is always give and take. Like if ur thrusters are reducing jump range they may have less power draw so u can add a more powerful module somewhere else

What I personally do is if the ship is going to be a trade platform I will go for D pieces for the weight savings...now if I am going to be fighting in the ship I usually go for A thrusters..... they are expensive but I like for my fighting ships to be kitted out to the max usually

OKay.... I see what you guys mean... So the advantages go beyond simply turning and whatnot.

Right! I will continue to play around with this and see what works best for how I am using the ship. I'm going to try running with a D5 Mounting instead of an A4 and see how that works. According to the right side ship spec display, everything went BLUE when I moved over the D5 vs the A4 I had in there before.

Since I am doing primarily trading work... Like XX mentioned, going with a D rated one, but of the 5 class seemed to actually be an upgrade in a lot of areas.

Thanks for the help! :)

For trading and exploration setups, you really want to go as light as possible so you can squeeze out as much jump range as possible.

*edit
Even in other setups, some D modules are solid because of the weight savings.

Remember, A modules are the most heat efficient.

So if you're smuggling, you may want to upgrade to class A for cool running, since you're not likely to offline your thrusters.
