Newcomer / Intro Any tips for this corvette build of mine?

Just banged out the fed rank to get a corvette and you already know i got a sweet-ass Corvette in my hangar, only question now is how to properly spec it?

Already made a good start; hardpoints are polished off with lovely dps (albiet glitter, otherwise known as 'chaff', is my arch nemisis).

I think specifically what I would appreciate some advice in would be shield cell banks and utilities. I am still a bit of a grasshopper with a mere 200 hours under my belt so I don't know the benefits of having multiple shield cell banks, which may be obvious, and whether or not point defence is even necessary when I have a clipper and 3 couriers relentlessly gangbanging my ship with their raging rockets.

Oh and the armour composite is also a tricky one (not sure if i should splash out for reactive surface and sacrifice jump range, or maybe even just get lightweight if that would be all I need).

For reference I don't normally play PVP as being an npc terror is enough for me :D

My potential build...:

Cheers lads.

The Corvette has only a 32 tonne fuel tank. A 5A fuel scoop is good enough for that. Replenishing the 8 tonne fuel used for a maximum range jump will only take 15 secs. You can then use the size 7 compartment for a second 7A shield cell bank for instance.

What do you want the ship to be? If you want it to be a pure combat ship for CZs you can leave out the fuel scoop, cargo rack, SRV, interdictor and KWS and replace them with more combat gear. You want to do PvP or PvE? Then, do you want it to be a shield tank, a hull tank or a hybrid? Shield tank is the standard choice for a Corvette because it has strong base shields and you can fit 2x7A SCBs and loads of boosters.

I don't really want it completely combat orientated tbh, hence why i still have the SRV and FSD booster, and i would still like to use it for bounty hunting so the interdictor may come in handy there but I think you're right in saying it's a good idea to swap out the big boy fuel scoop for a SCB. In all honesty my patience is so low 15 seconds is a long time haha but the trade for better shielding is a good one.

Thanks! :)

Yeah, it's probably best to just fly it for a while. With that experience your ideas on how to set it up and what to use it for will become more clear. I "redesigned" some of my ships up to three times until I was happy with them.
