Any tips on tackling Isla Tacano?

I'm not sure how to really tackle this one yet. You start so far in the hole, I'm not really sure how to start off aside from setting everything and starting from scratch which seems a waste of what's there.

BestInSlot has a video up.

The big trick here is get rid of that innovation center. When I first played this island I just didn't want to do that. I thought it looked so cool, and I noticed that it wasn't unlocked so I was really afraid to destroy it. Then I restarted and saw that destroying it gives over a million bucks! Just get rid of the thing, and about half the shops and you should have enough positive cash to get a few small herbies out to bring in some cash. The start will be slow at first, so be patient.

What the reply before me said. Once you get rid of that make that pre built enclosure a decent size for some dinos. I deleted two of the shops that weren't making any money at the time. I kept the bar and arcade though, they profit later on!

I find getting a Ceratosaurus early helps. Low maintenance but popular to get guests in.

It's my second enclosure on Tacano. First enclosure for easy herbivores. 2nd for my Ceratosaurus.

I put some ankylosaurus and dilophosaurus together, the ankylosaurus almost keep the dilos in line :D

Advice I was given was go to your other islands and do some expensive expeditions. Come back and open up a fossil center and then start selling off your finds. Generates a lot of cash quickly. That is after destroying some of the premade buildings on the island.

I got rid of the innovation center (i have it unlocked so i can just build another one later) and the partial monorail. I then finished the partial paddock and bred two struthis and started getting positive cash flow. I wanted to hurry up and get a research center and expedition building though so that i could go back to muerta while upgrading, so i sold two fast food restaurants to raise some cash. Also built a fossil building so that i can sell fossils for some quick cash once i start really working on the island.

It is not necessary to erase anything (in my case, delete everything except the enclosure on one side and the innovation center).

the very useful advice that can serve you on that island and others is, return to an island where you already have money generated, send expeditions to collect fossils and minerals (upgrade them with the upgrades of more minerals), when they return, do not sell the minerals!!. when you have the full inventory return to Tacano and sell everything, now you go back to your island to go back to do the procedure until you make a few million to start without deleting anything!

you can apply this in the investigations, you return to your island with more money generated and you investigate everything you occupy, in your new islands you will have it researched without spending anything

Never thought about that but honestly it feels to me like cheating.

I deleted everything, paths and all and started from scratch. Made it exactly as I wanted it, worked out fantastically. Built all my power/dig/fossil stuff up in the northernmost section, built a small struthi exhibit, and a hadrosaur exhibit. That got the money rolling in so I expanded to southern section with bigger stuff. A few hotels, shops and food where it's in highest demand. Easy five stars and I still have room to grow.

You do have to delete enough to be able to afford the fossil building, otherwise it's impossible to sell fossils on Tacano no matter how many you farm on the other islands.

You can eliminate the central buildings, they are literally unusable and with that money you build the fossil center.
