Any way to give away a ship?

I was an early backer and therefore I was "rewarded" with an extra Eagle ship, on top of the default Sidewinder everyone starts with. Thing is... I prefer to start like everyone else and earn every new ship, so I'm never going to use or sell that Eagle. But it seems a waste for it to be gathering dust in a spaceport when maybe someone else would like it.

So does anyone know if there's a way to give a ship away to another player? Failing that, is there a way to just make the Eagle disappear?

No, you can't give it away. Yes, if you go to the location of the Eagle you can sell it.

Sell the Eagle, buy commodities to the same value, jettison (with abandon option) the containers.

Sell the ship, use proceeds to buy a few tons of palladium, give that away.

Don't just jettison them they will decay in space.

Just fly it outside and self destruct then start again in the free sidewinder.

Do it the fun way.

Goto where the eagle is located.
Swap to the Eagle.
Lift off 2 inches from the pad, shoot and play a game of "can i last more than 10 seconds".

It will give you the option to start from scratch with the base money also.

That's a great idea. Should have thought of that myself!

Next time I'm over at Dalton Gatewat station, in LHS 3447, I'll be giving away some cargo worth around 40,000CR to the first Commander I spot. Should probably happen within the next half hour or so, in case anyone reading this is interested in some free creds.

Cheers for all the replies guys, including the one about testing if I can survive longer than 10s after firing inside the station. I almost went for that solution!

You're doing life wrong. Kit out the eagle and fly some loops of fun around some ne'er-do-wells. Give 'em what for!

Hah!

I would totally do that, but I want to "earn" my first flight in an Eagle, however brief it might end up being.

In ended up having to head over to Oleskiw Station, also in LHS 3447(not goods expensive enough in Dalton Gateway). So if anyone would like to get their hands on 3 tons palladium + 1 ton gold come over & say hi. Commander name is Gaius.

That hangar must be huge to be able to contains all those freagles. maybe it is larger on the inside than the outside in a tardis sort of way.

Well, I've learned something new today. If you deploy cargo in the vicinity of a space station you get fined at the tune of 250CR per canister.

So I got fined 1000CR for giving away 40,000CR in palladium and gold, and the guy I gave it all to didn't even say thank you.

Did I mention this is just like real life?
