Is there a point in going with the alliance, aside from feeling like a "good guy"?

If I'm not mistaken Federation and Empires have ships and ranks that unlock, right?

They do have some awesome systems...

Im allied with all 3 major factions and i have made big money trading between Alliance and Federation systems.
