About 2 years ago due to the lack of IPv4 addresses BT introduced IP address transitioning as a "stop gap" measure to allow more people to have broadband. At the time they said exchange equipment would be installed similar to how a switch works and will share an IP address to up to 10 houses.
I had to opt out as my DnyDNS account refused to work as I needed to access my NAS outside my house.
I had to go back to the BT website today to get information for a friend who was having problems and the website has now changed.

The interesting bit is now it states that some online gaming may be impacted.
So to all the people who are having problems this may be another thing to chase down and see if your ISP is not only using aggressive traffic shaping against ED but also are using IP adress transitioning and if so see if you can opt out.
