anyone built or seen a partial inground tunnel or barrier

I don't know what you would call it, not a full tunnel but where a coaster dips in to the ground there are cement walls below and to the sides, kind of like an embankment. I've tried to build in PC but can't make anything that looks good, anyone know what I'm talking about and seen it done in PC or built one? I also can't find an example in any videos or images.

Someone HAS done this with an amazing kiddie coaster themed like a tea party. I cant find the link for the life of me now though :(

Perhaps in a future release, we can get more options on the terrain tool (and auto-terrain) such that we can specify the shape of the tunnel (or trench) and the texture that it leaves behind. Hmm, square-shaped, snapped to "level" with a 3-foot clearance, and a "smooth concrete" texture - painted red and blue just for fun - comes to mind.

If I think I am understanding you correctly - could you recreate one of those ' roofless tunnels ', by digging down then laying a path along the bottom of your new trench. Once the path is in place raising/smoothing the sides, as the terrain tool leaves paths alone and builds up the sides like you have an invisible barrier along the edges of the paths anyway?

Yea it's still doable.

Not as easy as it was in like, RCT3, since we don't have the ability to raise or lower individual tiles anymore.
But you can sorta carve a trench out by carefully using the flatten to surface tool, kind of a hassle though.

by the way, have to disagree with it being harder than rct3...well maybe the landscaping requires a bit more finess, but doing it is rather simple and easy.

Nupole and Krux yes, Krux you are just missing the floor otherwise that's exactly what i was talking about. I can't seem to get the walls and terrain to line up as well as you did though, your's came out very neat and orderly looking, good job.

i meant for it to have no floors, theres quite a few coasters that dont pave the ground itself, i was going for that look.

the reason you see this among coasters is cost, it helps lower the cost of the structure of the coaster as it allows the supports to be shorter, less landscaping is required and other savings in other areas of the build, with a win/win of creating a sense of speed for the rider as well.....many coasters dont pave the ground, as its not really needed and is costly (but of coarse, others do).....the walls are required for safety, so the terrain doesnt cave after rain or erosion while it is running putting the riders in danger.

tip for it....

build the coaster first into the ground with tunneling on. however deep you like or want...

build a larger hole than you are actually going to use and build your partial tunnel using the walls and floors if you like, use multiple buildings if you have to, above each wall is a different building.

then soak the terrain around it, remember, that the terrain doesnt have to be flat behind it, for the illusion the only thing thats important is to meet the terrain with the walls edge. (meaning you dont need to create a squarish dip in the terrain, let the walls create that illusion) so use the editor with the smallest size brush and high intensity (or sometimes lower depending on what your trying to do) for more precise control of the edges of the terrain at the top to bring it into the walls edge

do you mean something like this? ( that small ditch after the corkscrew)
I'm sure once we have more terrain textures we'd be able to make them.

1. Dig out the trench with the landscaping tool - larger than where your building
2. Build your "building" - walls & floors around where you need them
3. The on the terrain tool click the "scenery lock" button on
4. raise the terrain again

Note - I've not actually played much PC since A2 release so haven't tried the above, but it makes sense to me on this is how the scenery lock button works - using this button you can create tunnels around paths etc automatically. so I guess it works the same for buildings.
