Anyone disappointed?

Are any of you lucky Alpha players disappointed with the game so far? I don't think I've seen any negatives at all on the forum (which is great obviously).

I'm guessing there must be some bits people don't like, what are they? Or are Frontier just delivering the perfect game we've dreamed of for many many many...many years.

The only nay sayers I have heard at all are from people who have not actually played it, and are financially invested in another game (so I believe are almost invested in not wanting to like ED)

that being said, it is a double sided coin...... anyone who has already shelled out £200 are equally likely to be emotionally as well as financially biased into liking the game.

From my POV however, having not tried it, but watched/listened to a LOT of footage.

what is not to like???? It looked exactly the game i want it to be from what I have seen so far. if the mission generation and planet / system generation is as polished then this could be the GOTY for 2014.

but then... I too am biased ;)

Not dissapointed at all, in fact very surprised by the quality of the Alpha and just how much fun it is to play.

+1 on this.
I expected the alpha to be unstable, basic, & full of bugs but what we got is something that is remarkably free of problems & has clearly had a lot of thought put into it.
Sure, it's raised some gameplay issues & a number of suggestions for improvement, but they are tweaks, not "scrap that & start again" things, & anyway, that's what an alpha is for, isn't it ?
Right now it's perfectly playable & far better quality than many finished games, so it would be hard to feel any kind of disappointment. I can hardly wait to get my hands on alpha 2.0, & I'm sure that goes for all the alpha team. :)

Agreed...

...confirms I need to buy a new PC, even on medium settings and 720p... i get quite poor fps rate, new PC isn't going to arrive until after the multiplayer Alpha starts :(

I'm disappointed there hasn't been an update to the Alpha lately.
It's looking increasingly likely there might be a delay before i get my mits on it :(

very very pleased indeed with the solid work so far. If the rest of the game has as much effort and polish put into it then we are all in for a real treat indeed come full release.

Stay the course FD!

It wouldn't be fair to say you are disappointed in something that you know so little about. The Alpha demonstrates ~<1% of what we hope to see in the finished game. Conversely, it would be unfair to say you're satisfied as well.

I can say that what we have so far runs quite well, and for a lack of anything else to complain about I do wish there was more.

;)

Only disappointed with how little information us backers get despite throwing tons of money at frontier, although I forgive them somewhat as Frontier: Elite II was such an epic game in scope!

Frontier have been in gaming limbo (I know lostwinds, roller coaster, Kinectimals not games that I'm particularly interested in) for years now and I think they need elite to be a success, perhaps that's why we don't see much of the game in progress. To date, since November 2012 all we have really seen is a planet, a bunch of asteroids and variety of ships shooting each other. It's more just frustrating to be honest.

Nope - those elements that have been included in Alpha 1.0 and 1.1 have been more than adequate to keep me happy with the amount of progress that Frontier have made (and shared).

Looking forward to Alpha 2.0 at the end of the month - I will be disappointed then though - I'll probably get my head in my hands to play with on a regular basis due to my piloting skills (or rather lack thereof....).

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.

My thoughts exactly.

Still, I'm Alpha 1.1ed out. Ready for 2.0. Ready for Beta, actually! I want to do some traveling and exploring. :)

I have to say that because of how good this game/alpha etc etc is:

Im put right off playing anything else!

I am a bit Alpha'd out in fairness but in only in so much that im chomping at the bit for more to come.

I used to play loads of other things but since finding this and getting alpha my appetite for anything else is just about gone.

The only game i can think of that might tempt me away from Elite in the upcoming months is The Witcher 3.

No disappointment here for sure so far.

He be off reporting back to GoonSquad about this game and how massively brilliant it is and how its ripe for their apparent domination :D

<1% in content, true, but about half of the critical part of the game - the flight model. Unless docked, in space sims we are always experiencing the quality (or lack of it) of the flight model.
