Anyone else dubious about Palin's Galnet story?

Is Ismael the real deal or a chancer in over his head? His escape is indeed fortuitous if he's telling the truth. How did he escape? Did his captors hand him into the community goal for their own ends? Halsey just turns up the same way too, just previously. This all smells of Hudson to me.

Palin's story is damn poor "errrr me mates got fried, me ship stolen errrr by this bad guy types. Yeah reckon they were bad 'cause they wore black gear and put me up in a scary room for, errr I dunno awhile. They asks me questions, like why me? So I says I dunno and next thing I know I've heroically escaped and I'm here ain't I? Sod me mates like 'cause I'm OK, right? Err now how to explain what I did with all the lovely meta alloys and fill in me insurance claim for me stuff and friends. Err busy science bloke 'ere give me some space yeah, maybe a whip round for me troubles?

What do you think?

I think he's nothing more than a vessel to move the story along, which will introduce a new galaxy (human occupied space) spanning faction that's directly opposed to the Pilot's Federation (like the Yin to our Yang).

Oh... and it also sets the stage for passenger missions/abductions and a new module (tractor beam). At least, in my opinion.

Is the Murdoch family connected in anyway to Galnet? Logically, they would be as they practically had a media monopoly by the year 2000. Therefore: Anything read, written or transmitted, is fiction.

Palin is a Thargoid plant.

Not an actual plant (although that might explain some things) but the dude is totally up to some no good in your neighbourhood.

He's a pod person now.....if he is killed he will glow red when he dies.
Kay, let's have a Palin witch-hunt and if he doesn't glow red then "oops", got it wrong...
He should be protected though so it's hard and more for the wing thing but yeah, let's put out a kill contract on a NPC. If not this one then any another.
Might be fun and may lead to players making friends to accomplish something.

While it does seem sketchy, I don't think Hudson has a hand in anything regarding Palin and Halsey. If he were involved in the SS1 incident, the wreck and her body would have never been found, up until that news broke I was in the "hudson probably had a hand in SS1's disappearance" camp.

Likewise, Palin doesn't seem like he would be a target for a blackout op by the feds, especially since he did end up turning back up.

My suspicion is whoever went after Palin either got caught by surprise by pirates, or specifically dumped him where he might be found because he doesn't know enough to be worth snuffing out.

as for SS1, I feel because almost immediately after the feds found the wreck including survivors and likely some data recorders they found something that made them decide that SS1 needs more protection, hence the swap to a set of farraguts from the older cruise liner. That feels entirely reactionary to them finding proof that it wasn't just an accident.

And then let's not forget there's pirate and wild farraguts roaming space now... I suspect an INRA op gone rogue.

What if Palin hijacked himself? Hmm? It's the perfect crime! Same with pale-shirt or whatever 'is name is. They're both sketchy. They have those beady little eyes that just scream I'm coming to get you in your sleep.

Self hijacking double date -- Tell me I am wrong.

If it's INRA - and that seems likely given their historic remit - I very much doubt either they'd consider "not killing someone" to be the better option or that they'd be destroyed themselves by mere pirates. Alliance counter-intelligence or Thargoids seems more likely.

It does come across all a bit circumstantial and happenstance - but I just presumed it was written that way to move the story along for whatever FD want to reveal in 2.1 ....

There are some recent news storys revolving around something that is responsible for the vice presidents dieing a lot, reports of a pirate capital class ship in and around maia ( someones getting rich off the meta alloy trade) so nearby anarchy factions ( back towards the main bubble would be a good place to start) and or the ant hill mob ......

Federation building capital ships to patrol the outer rim ( maia facing side would be a good start)
