Anyone Else Frustrated with Educators?

Hey Frontier, can we please get a fix for the educators? They're an awesome idea and vital for good education ratings, but they are way too buggy to use, causing more frustration than enjoyment.

I've spent the last 50 or so game years trying to get them running smoothly, with no luck. They consistently miss talks when they're fully rested and idling, with no crowds to walk through, and no distance issues, but won't take a break and let another educator, who's idling anyway, take over when they're exhausted.

If you train them past level two, they show up way too early and complain about not getting any rest, because they can't let the educator, who's never held a talk in 8 years of employment, a chance. But if you don't have that spare educator, the complaints from the working one are constant.

And then, there's the bug that gets them stuck forever moaning at a talk point, which becomes useless and needs to be replaced.

They use staff rooms outside of their work zone (even when there is plenty of open space within the zone), which means they're too far away to make it to the talk on time.

Missed talks negatively impact guests, so this is very frustrating.

And...when first placing a talk in a zoo, or when making ANY changes to it (moving it, changing the date, adding music, etc.), half the zoo seems to flock to the talk point, causing extreme congestion that otherwise never occurs, and excessive, uncontrollable littering, severely impacting guest happiness for years afterwards and resulting in a huge crime wave. This will continue until the talk occurs or the educator doesn't show. Closing the talk will disperse guests temporarily, but as soon as it reopens, the chaos resumes.

I would report these bugs officially, but I can't. Every time I try to create a report, I end up in an endless login loop, whether I try on my phone or PC.

Is anyone else having similar issues or is it just me? These are my setups:

Work zone 1: 12 talks, evenly spaced in Jan, Apr, Jul, and Oct, 2 staff rooms, 4 capable educators. One talk is missed at least once a year, often more frequently. See image.

Work zone 2: 8 talks, evenly spaced in Jan, Apr, Jul, and Oct, 2 staff rooms, 3 capable educators. One talk is missed at least once a year.

Work zone 3: literally identical to work zone 2 (on a grid). Hasn't missed a talk in 20 years.

Work zones 4 & 5: 4 talks, quarterly as above, 2 capable educators. Only one educator ever works, the other is just needed for emotional support. If I fire the spare, the working educator complains constantly.

They're ruining the game I love and driving me crazy. 🙁

I no longer use educators because of the many problems. After some time they get stuck at the talk point. There was one educator who I could not remove no matter what I did. He is still stuck in that zoo.

One of the main problems that contribute to this, I believe, is the fact that educators leave staff rooms at the last possible moment, which results in them reaching the talk point only a couple in-game days before the scheduled month. Therefore, if there is some congestion on one of the paths leading to the talk point, then the educator misses the scheduled talk. On the contrary, if the educator is already commuting, then they will go to the next talk point months before it starts and will not try using staff rooms at all, if there is 3 months or less between the end of the last talk and the beginning of the next one - or in other words, two talks that are 4 months apart. With a tweak to these two extremes, I reckon most educator related issues can be fixed.

I've got educators getting stuck in the staff rooms. They go to the staff room, but then show as "idling", and never leave it in order to start a talk. I've tried everything I can think of to "reset" them - deleting and replacing the staff rooms, firing and rehiring the educator, firing and hiring a new educator, switching the talks on and off, setting the talk point to within and without of a work zone. Nothing works. I am beyond frustrated with them and have stopped using them in my zoos. They're a great idea, but are just too buggy right now.

The new timed scenario, called (Al Pine's Zoo, lol) requires 4 educator talks in a year. I finished the other objectives, but my 4 educators refused to do the 4 talks, spaced three months apart. I would find them idling in a staff room (which was super close nearby) and failing to leave the room until too late to make the talk. Or they would wander around the zoo, even though I had them in a restrictive workzone. I ended up needing to set up 6 educator stands and hire 9 educators, just to accomplish the required 4 talks. I really dislike the mechanics and bugginess of the educators.

I 100% agree with you
I have submitted multiple bug ron the educators, I can’t move them, they are stuck on talks, fired/quit and won’t leave. I have to rebuild my talk points just to cover up the educators that won’t leave.
On relatively short walks from staff room to talk they are late. On long walks they seem to show up on time.
Complain about the staff room.
I often reduce their salary should an educator miss their talks, I think it would be nice for them to note why they are getting reduced pay.
I also had talked about potential staff room work that our staff can do. Such as security guard stays in a security room which increases range of cameras and patrolling staff, I mentioned maybe the educators could work on “education programs” or social media stuff which would help marketing. They shouldn’t be sitting around so long to not show up on time.
Frontier please acknowledge these issues
I personally used to do education talks and other education work at an aquarium so this really makes me sad

Just jumping in to say I too hope this will get fixed. (Or get more guidance on how to make best use of them, if we're using them wrong). I've tried educators in two of my zoos, and ended up deleting the talks and firing the educators when I couldn't get them to work correctly in either one, and so haven't tried to place them again since.

Besides the above mentioned bugs, I also don't use the educators because there animations just don't make any sense. Why are the educators growling when talking about peafowls? It so destroys my enjoyment in the game that I just don't place them anymore. Also easily fixed. Just make two different animations. One for predators, where the growling makes sense, and one for non-predators.

,,Peafowl are very delicious Birds. Because of that many Animals like Dholes and Tigers like to eat them. Grrrr!!!"🙃🦚

Absolutely agree with this. The Reindeer are coming up to the Fence and then that Idiot starts to growl audibly and they go away again and it slightly hurts the Immersion

Yes good point with the peafowl. :) I guess you can make a story for all of them to include the growling sounds. Like you said though, it hurts the immersion for me. I'd think that the prey animals will run like hell if they hear these sounds. Though they may get used to it over time.

I've submitted a report to the issue tracker regarding the educators never leaving the staff rooms. They are totally broken right now and do not work at all. Very frustrating and I hope Frontier can fix this.

I could be wrong, but I think it's generally preferred that bug reports are only put on the issue tracker, with this Feedback forum reserved for ideas/feedback. Also, I interestingly have had no problems with the educators (as long as their assigned talk and staff room are in reasonable distance from each other). However, I only work in Sandbox mode. Maybe it's a bug specifically limited to other modes. 🤷‍♂️

I only work in Sandbox too, so the issues definitely exist in that mode. It's odd how some people experience bugs and some don't. Here's hoping Frontier can sort it out.
