Anyone else notice the wording in the newsletter?

"With content development reaching it's final stages" As seen here from newsletter #159 ...

I have to admit, this has me worried, I did not expect content to be reaching the final stages of development this quickly.

Silly sausage! Worry wort! :p They mean content development of this update! I.e. it is ready for them to start unleashing highlights and beta etc.

If they mean development of 2.3 THEN WHY DO THEY NOT SAY THAT?

(rips hair out of head, eats it, rips hair of random passing dog, eats that and screams in frustration.)

They quite clearly talk about 2.3, the context is clear when you also read the beginning part above the Picture you have cut out.

'Final stages' just means they are close to release a version full of mission bugs.

Then they will put it through Beta full of mission bugs, and then release it as an update, including all the original mission bugs.

p.s. I wouldn't be surprised if they were closing the game down - DB shows scant interest.

Because they are still not used to write juristic text, where each word and every sentence is tripple-checked by a lawyer for its meaning or possible misinterpretation.
Silly them - they should know their fans better by now ... ;)

Edit: and I should know better that I am simply not typing fast enough, too!

Yep. That's it OP, it's game over man. That's all she wrote for content development for ED. If you scroll right to the bottom you'll find a link to Planet Coaster and a goodbye note from David Braben saying, "See you in Star Citizen Kane beaches! Yolo, lulz, kek, kek, kek."

;)

David Braben doesn't care about roller coasters either, he is still trying to be an astrophysicist at Cambridge University.

They are just down the road.

I don't know why he doesn't just bung them a million quid and let him study there, it would put us all out of our misery..

Lol, the never ending stream of bitterness from you is quite amusing. I do feel a little bit sorry for you though, as you clearly have nothing better to do with yourself than whine endlessly on a forum about a game you clearly don't like. Now that is sad.

Yeah Panticus is one of the worst.

That only refers to 2.3. Not to content in general.

Braben himself stated in a recent interview or livestream that FD might even keep developing the game after 10 years. He thinks that is entirely possible.
It's an endless universe.

The only thing that saddens me is that I can't time travel to 2027 or something like that :).
I am so curious about atmospheric planets, alien life forms, volcanism, atmospheric effects, gas giant atmospheres etc. etc.

Boy oh boy..... Don't even know how to approach this one...

But it was indeed just a bad choice of words on their part. "With the content for our next update reaching it's final stages" would have been more appropriate.

"We're almost done with the next patch, so we'll start talking about it more."

It's because they are winding down, getting ready to swtch off Elite: Dangerous before they release their new game (5th in the Elite series) called Elite: Harmless. :p

Word in the tech world is that it will be entitled Elite:Boring, but will nevertheless be a vast improvement on the current version.
