Is anyone else on the verge of leaving should the GamesCom announcement be an expansion of some kind?

On the one hand, im dying to land on planets and the like.

But on the other hand, what point is there in having planetary bodies become more fleshed out (and asking for more money from the community) when the space side of the universe is so under-developed and (dare I say it?) lifeless as it is?

Am I the only one that feels getting things like more interesting NPCs/ more diverse NPC behaviours, comm chatter, missions that actually seem different rather than bulletin board click this, fly there, shoot this/pick up/ drop off this, fly there, turn in? What about exploring, surely non-expansion buyers shouldn't be left with the whole model of "scan the 100th planet that looks like the last 100 and acts the same" scenario?

I know we haven't had confirmation that it IS a paid expansion, but it seems that given the tone of newsletters and the fact that FD has explicitly said its not thargoids and walking around but have made a point of not commenting on Planetary landings points more and more to that being the accouncement, and if it is, I will truly feel like I am a cow being milked at that point.

I know we are getting CQC at some point in the future, but a drop in drop out PVP championship a fleshed out universe does not make, at least in my opinion anyway (and im very aware that these are possibly solely my opinions).

Anyway, thoughts? (constructive instead of abusive if possible?)

Abusive? "Go play Eve for immersion!" :)

Constructive? I think simulation is actually OK now. There has been a lot of background sim fixes and mission fixes and missions for example make much more sense now then just after lunch. So, planetary landings right now would be a good fit. I think a bigger danger is FDev starting to work mostly on things such as CQC that are not even a part of the original game concept.

Haha just realised and edited my post, nice catch! + rep for making me laugh

As for sim, yeah the simulation is okay, but why are npcs just ships flying around that interact with nothing essentially? even just adding comms with some basic npc comm interaction options would make the universe feel a ton more alive. Right now they seem like the traffic in an old GTA game to me.

What's "leaving"? How can you "leave"? It's just stupid game. Play it, or not play it.

Leaving is where i stop pouring money into it after backing and paying lots of money for a "stupid game", instead of remaining a player who attempts to get others to play the game and buys DLCs and Expansions. But didnt realise the semantic grammar police had a wire tap on me when i wrote this post.

Constructive thoughts?
Do you consider a thread like this constructive?

I have many wishes for the game myself and repeatedly voice them in threads all over the place, but I am not going to leave if they don't do what I want, the moment I want it.

It is only 7 months after release and this project is huge and FD is not a large dev like UBI, EA and Rockstar.
Personally I know nothing about how to develop a game and creating something solid and coherent of this magnitude and I can only suspect how difficult it must be.
I do understand that in the end it is FD that has to make the decisions and follow their vision.
I will be patient, because what FD has done so far is of exceptional quality.
Of course it is not perfect and lacks certain features (as it is under development still), but it is getting there one step at the time and I can see it happen right in front of me. I would have to be a complete moron to leave this unique space sim.

There is not even an alternative to this spacesim. It is the only playable sim that has an open simulation of our entire galaxy instead of using a very limited number of connected boxes like most others do, including SC.

Why would the announcement of an expansion annoy you? You do know that they will be on their way sooner or later? FDev have never made any secret about wanting to make paid expansions. If it is an expansion it will be just to tell us about when we can expect it.

If the gamescom announcement is a Planetary Landings Expansion then I predict I will be making lots of angry posts. Those angry posts will all run along a similar theme:

TAKE MY MONEY!

But after the initial thrill of landing on planets, wont the game go back to being a rinse-repeat of the same thing in a grind to get the next ship, to then rinse-repeat again? and if not, how do you spend you time on Elite: Dangerous at the moment and do you have any tips for me on things to do that make the game remain fun and interesting for you? (beyond using your imagination, as I didnt pay for a game where my imagination does all the work)

You can never leave the game. You ARE the game. :D
This made me laugh, +rep!

I don't know kurush, everything seems to make more sense to me immediately after lunch. But I digest...

I bought the game recently when it was released on Steam, so my experience is pretty fresh with the current state of the game. I have no qualms/gripes with anything as it stands. When people tell me that they've played a game for 100+ hours and are getting bored of it, all I can think is: No duh? What are people expecting for $50? A lifetime of entertainment?

I think they are going to announce that PowerPlay was a huge mistake, is being abandoned, and that they will reward everyone who attempted to play it with a super-weapon..

Well thanks for getting aggressive despite the fact that I clearly attempted to make it clear that it was my OPINION. No need to infer that im a moron, but each to their own buddy. I wont belittle your response further with a comeback :)

Zero constructive comment as usual. OP clearly meant "leaving" as exiting game = no longer play = disappointed in direction FD heading in his opinion.

agree or disagree with the OP, based on substantive reasoning or just opinion - trolling with semantics over which synonym is better is what is stupid. Perhaps you should leave since its just a "stupid game" to you

Thanks for having common sense! + rep for you!

And yeah everyone can disagree as long as its in a non abusive way, after all I did state that its my opinion :)
