So yes... M stands for Mobile and I know I shouldn't be running DK2 on the laptop but it is what I have. I never had any problems with the GTX880M and I achieve the constant 60 FPS expected on my laptop screen (60Hz) with everythign maxed out however when I play in the rift I am getting between 35 and 45 with occasional dips in the 20's and peaks in the 50's (FPS seem to take quite a hit on stations even standing still). I am not using any supersampling (I tried but the card can't handle it, too much stutter) but the funny thing seems to be that no matter if I set the graphics settngs to low medium or high I always get the same level of FPS in the rift so I am wondering: "Am I doing something wrong?"
I am using an Alienware 17 and I have disabled Optimus to make sure the intel card is not used and tried to optimize the NVidia control panel for performance instead of quality but still hard to go past 45 FPS unless i'm just supercruising around space pointing at a black space. I have disabled shadows on the ED options but nothing turned out of it.
Is anyone out there with a similar setup that is able to get more juice out of the mobile card? If so, care to share the tuning options?
To be honest the game is completely playable for me at 45 FPS but when I get into stations and get the hit (or I encounter the stuttering issue on non-earth-type planets) I get some motion sickness which I believe is because of the low FPS since I don't get any motion sickness when turning and twisting in dogfights at USS. So I am hoping increasing the FPS would give me some more comfort while playing in the rift.
Thanks all.
