Anyone else witness a fleet carrier moving inside a system?

I moved my carrier inside the system.. I saw 2 identical options for my fleet carrier in the nav panel. I actually dropped in on one of them and the ship just basically flew away from me way faster than I could thrust. I was like COME BACK. I thought i'd drop in to the relative speed it was going.

So also in DSS you can see them moving sub supercruise. Its quite funny to see actually.

Fleet carriers orbit around planets. As such, they are susceptible to the same "runaway station" bug that sometimes afflicts other installations and POIs (such as Combat Zones). If effect, the game drops you in to a frame of reference relative to the planet, instead of a frame of reference relative to the station. Because the station (or in your case, the carrier) is moving at orbital velocity (several km per second), the object seems to fly away from you.

Actually when u are jumping carrier, its instance will appear before actual carrier. Instance will show "carrier arrival in 2 minutes", "Jumping from: unknown" But i havent checked what happens when i jump wothin system. Queation is - were u on carrier djring jump or not? Anyway - relogging to main menu or reentering aystem updates system map

See? I told you I wasn't crazy ... they moves I tells ya, they moves!

Yes, I've seen it as well.

I know this is kinda health 'n' safety issue, but I actually love these.

Everything in this game is so empty and static. You can see these carriers having huge thrusters firing away, but never seeming to go anywhere. Having big carriers motoring along at many km/s is fantastic.

You can also get some interesting situations when carriers or megaships are orbiting around a planetary ring, ring speeds differ, so capital class ships move closer and further away from each other as they orbit, they can sometimes get quite close to each other, within a few thousand km's. I think 1000km is the separation limit.

In the past I have sat and watched a Cargo ship barrel down on a flight operations carrier.
