Anyone ever tried this in combat?
With a goblin on your tail:
1) Turn off flight assist
2) Set throttle to zero - you won't slow down - it's space
3) Face your ship backwards
4) Go full reverse throttle - you're facing to the rear - need reverse throttle to speed up in the direction of flight not the direction you're facing
5) Blast the goblin on your tail
I used to do that in some other space sim I played many, many years ago. Worked well - especially with missiles. I've done 1 thru 3 above in ED just to see if the maneuver is possible and it is. Unfortunately to date I've not earned enough money to upgrade to a ship that can carry missiles so I'm spending time learning how to control and aim while facing to the rear with throttle at zero and coasting along at speed. Next step is to set throttle full reverse and learn how to control the ship in that mode while running and facing rear.
I play as a trader/explorer mostly. don't particularly like combat but do it when I have to. So I was just wondering if the above maneuver had been tried in ED and if those who had tried it had perfected it or not?
