I want to rekindle my love for these movies and I was wondering if you guys have any favorites you'd like to recommend. Godzilla, King Kong, Pacific Rim, War of the Worlds, Gamera, When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth, and The beast from 20,000 fathoms are some of my favorite pastimes, as there is something really cool seeing giant monsters, aliens, and robots thrashing around as the people from those stories run around like little ants in comparison. Plus I find the effects from these movies to be some of my favorite, be it stop motion, video editing, costumed, or CGI.

I just remembered this movie called "The Troll Hunter" and I wanted to give it a shot, I have not heard much about it but it looks like a fun gem.

Agree, Trollhunter is a great movie.
Can't agree with pacific Rim, terrible movies.
I love the old stop motion stuff.
My favs from yore would be the old monster movies with Lon Chaney, Bela Lugosi, and of course Boris Karloff, the creepy, lifeless look when he was Frankenstein's monster is the best.
The Blob scared me pretty good as a kid.

only film that made me crinch was the Shining/an : syspheria (im sorry maggots crawling all over you and getting inside your skin was way too much for me)

Always a hard call. Horror movies trended for blood baths, suspense movies toward scaring the bejeesus out of you.

And the first one i can remember, although i was less than 10 yo, Forbidden Planet
Seen it sometime at the end of seventies or the very beginning of eighties.

Not sure if it watchable in our times, but back then made a very strong impression on my childish vivid imagination.
