Anyone found any bark mould recently?

I have been to a couple of bodies that claim to have bark mould, according to the surface scanner. The blue colouring indicates that it is all over the place, but I cannot find any. I have looked in different terrains, hunted high and low, but not a single one. Are they just super rare or am I just not looking hard enough?

They are....hard to find...... They only appears in small clumps spread far apart, and even individual isolated mounds, if I was to hazard an opinion, they are the most difficult of all bio to find!

For instance, these two were just all by themselves in the middle of nowhere:

Sometimes you will find small clumps like this but they are rare also;

Yeah, I've encountered 3 planets with them on my current exploration trip and went to the blue areas and couldn't find a single mound. Sometimes I was flying for 100s of kilometers and not finding them.

Yep, flying at around 100 mtrs up at around 100mps and a single mound can be a nightmare to spot. On the other hand due to the mats they have they do register on the SRV wave scanner, so looking for single bark mounds, if they are around, may actually be easier from the SRV, one of the few that is I guess, I am a long way from any systems with bark mounds at the moment so can't test really.

I tend to fly with the camera on, just below the nose of my ship, and I fly very low (belly scraping) and very slow (20-40 mps). Works for me to find pretty much everything. Some stuff spawns a bit slowly at times, so going slow helps me not pass them by. YMMV :)

It's a bit easier to find them on the night part of the planet since they emit some light. Which doesn't change the fact there were planets where I flew hundreds of kms in several entirely different locations and couldn't find a single one.

If you find a brighter planet with bark mounds, they'll usually have zones that look like lava rock, that's usually where bark mounds will spawn. I haven't found where to look on the grey planets though
