Although personally, I'd recommend just loading a default X55 profile in the game (without the HOTAS software) and see how the controls suit you and gradually bind and re-bind things to your liking. That way you will slowly learn to use everything instead of staring into a sheet of controls and trying to remember them.

There were a lot of things added in the latest update, but you can bind the rest of the functions as you are running into them. This covers basic flight and ship functionality.
