using a black market? I am thinking about this to be fun.

i think if you have a constant influex of other players with stolen commodities by playing in a group of thiefs or pirates, it might make sense. otherwise - as the owner you can transfer stolen cargo as any other, and take it out to smuggle.using a black market? I am thinking about this to be fun.

this is a major problem - you can't advertise it, beside setting role to smuggler/pirate, naming FC whatever.I had hoped to but, while third party tools like inara can help other players know that your carrier is buying certain commodities, there is no way to advertise your carriers black market.
I’d be genuinely interested to hear if anyone has found a use for the black market.
Smuggling is busted, so there's really not much call for it. In a majority of cases, you won't turn a profit because selling to npcs attracts a -25% debuff... so if you had a black market on b your FC, any product you hope to still turn a profit on with sales from players, would need to be priced at less than what another player paid for it.... so there's absolutely no reason to smuggle, even with an FC.using a black market? I have to agree with this. I don't have that much of an experience however... I was recently working on The Dweller unlock. Requirement is to sell to at least 5 black markets and give him 500k. I got few tonnes of narcotics to distribute and on every station black market wanted them way below purchase price... I wont be doing this again as it is straight loss of funds...Smuggling is busted
Paging @Jmanis - you might want to run some tests today. Was running some combat stabilizers last night expecting to make a loss at a bunch of black markets, but I was getting in the neighborhood of galactic average price each time. Even sold at a decent profit in systems with wars or civil unrest states. I'm wondering if we got a stealth fix to the 25% debuff tucked in with yesterday's balance update?Smuggling is busted, so there's really not much call for it. I'll check it out, won't be for another 8 hours or so though.Paging @Jmanis - you might want to run some tests today. Still doesn't look to be the case. Bought narcotics at ~8.2k, this is the black market price for an Ex/Ref black market, boom state.Paging @Jmanis - you might want to run some tests today. Meanwhile, extraction economy, no Boom, open market, same power effects:

It was actually my second test. My first test was in a None, Drought state, which reported a comparable price, but I didn't report it in case drought was affected.I've no strong idea of how BM's work (just using mine for wingmate to trade out stolen commodities at the moment, hatch breaks from wanted ships, plus bounty) but wouldn't you almost expect times when the main economy is in boom to be the worse time for blackmarkets? Isn't it closer to the real world, that when the main economy is in retreat blackmarkets become more attractive?
However, black market prices follow the normal market pricing stateful effects... boom is usually good for narcotics.
Yes. Stolen goods apply a -25% debuff to price, owing to the fact you have virtually 0 acquisition cost, and the risk of moving "hot" goods to the market.Nice. I'm wondering if there's any effect from the actual legal status though ..
For example Narcotics are illegal in jurisdiction but I'm going to be selling "stolen" goods. in other words they're both sold in blackmarket and are both illicit but illicit for quite different reasons (and tagged in cargo accordingly).
Some opportunity for investigation here I feel. o7
Ah darn, must have gotten carried away seeing good prices due to normal state effects then. Sorry for the mis-report!It was actually my second test. My first test was in a None, Drought state, which reported a comparable price, but I didn't report it in case drought was affected.

As another contrast, a neighbouring industrial which is actually an import station is in Boom, and has an open market price of ~10,000.
Illegal goods are meant to attract a small premium, owing to the risk of being scanned and fined. This is how it worked till new BGS came in, then virtually all illegal goods, except those which have quite extreme profit margins, sell for a loss, because they incorrectly receive the -25% stolen debuff. I verified this once with the same type of goods, one stolen and one not stolen, but both illegal. They were priced the same.
