Anyone know what happened to asteroid pirate bases?

I remember a picture from a while back showing an asteroid pirate base, quite a while before release. Are they "in" yet? Was there any word from FD since then about these? Is it that no has found one yet?

Back a couple or three months ago, back when everyone thought ED was following the DDA (including most at FD) and before the mysterious "vertical slice" happened many of us thought the pirate asteroid bases were a done deal (as in finished and ready to be put "in-game") and then the VS (vertical slice) happened and I (we) haven't heard anything, that I know of, since.

Did I just miss something? I'm a rabid "fanboi" and stay up to snuff on all things ED, as far as I know, so I hope I didn't just miss the news?

Not heard any mention of this either, think it will be like everything else...wait and see.

Think they have given up making announcements of future features and are keeping they're heads down to avoid the flak that flies in they're direction

Ok so I guess they went the way of the other things after the vertical slice and are in limbo.

The only thing that pops in my mind is an interview with Micheal about the future of elite, where he mentions being able to buy a base, have it towed to an asteroid, and inflated on the spot.

So there's been no "official" word from FD about all of this other than flippant comments across various social media outlets?

I'd love to hear something concise from FD as opposed to a one line blurb from Micheal.

I'd ask Ed but, no offense Ed but, I doubt he knows as he seems to be in the dark most of the time as much as we are.
