Anyone other than me planning to clear save when 1.3 arrives?

I am a casual player, playing a few hours a week. Started on launch day basically.
What I have enjoyed the most from the game has been the little play, the constant development and building up of credits from slaving away, buying a C upgrade thruster from D for the Viper, or finally having enough money to buy point-defence on the T6 while doing rare trade runs.

However, it is a little boring having to start Power Play with credits already, completely missing out on the content as a fresh Sidewinder pilot.
So I thought about completely clearing my save, despite having only 6-7 mil credits in the bank atm. Could be fun to try and haul myself up through the ladder from scratch with all of the new player base (which didn't exist in December) using Power Play as a crutch.

What are you going to do when Power Play comes out?

TLDR; Clearing my save when PP arrives, what are you going to do to spice up your Elite love life come 1.3 (pun intended)?

I've also been playing since launch. I'll probably carry on. I've tried a couple of other ships, but I'm still rocking my original Sidewinder with about 1,000,000 worth of upgrades. Jobbing here and there. It's tempting to start again...I'll see where I am when the patch is released. Hell, that might not be for another couple of months.

I am worth around 150 million
I am expert in combat
Entrepreneur in trading
Ranger in exploring
Baron in the empire

I will be resetting and starting as an Alliance nobody with dreams of owning my own large trading ship one day.

... 1.3 is practically a new game anyway.

No. I'm 2/3rds the way to Elite Trader and not starting that grind over. That's the goal I set for myself and it will finance Elite in combat and exploration.

Im a little confused.

Can you in 1.3 buy a starter sidewinder and play without doing wipe to your account?

Id rather prefer doing that.

Reset my commander! After all the effort I've put into ED? Are you bonkers? ;) :D

TBH, I have been thinking about it, but I have too much scanning data to hand in at the moment, so probably not. Since I'm underwhelmed with ED at the moment I've taken a break and jumped into Minecraft.

Why would anyone ever do that? I'd rather buy a second copy of ED if I wanted to start from scratch and not waste all those hours. Maybe even give the new account a little* Palladium jump start.

* 10 tons of Palladium (max Sidewinder cargo) is more than enough

I'm probably missing something really obvious, but I don't understand why the new Powerplay would need you to wipe your existing character... :S

I might. I've done a total of 4 wipes since Beta for various reasons. I'm enjoying the game more than ever, and doing pretty good. But I do see Power play as an entirely new opportunity and as said above (+1 btw) to role play from scratch in a very different galaxy. As trading is my lower standing, I've not grinded myself to the bone yet, and I reckon my current 50m worth won't be too hard to catch up with, since BH and CZ are now much more rewarding and PP rewards seem a further enhancement. Props and +1 to OP for courage!

You don't have to wipe, don't worry. :)

And yes, you can always just park whichever ship you currently have and buy a stock Sidewinder again...

Resetting is entirely optional.

I've read that some people do this by buying a load of ships to use up their money (except 1,000cr) and parking them someplace, having done their best to neutralise faction and influence to get as near to the restart scenario as they can. Still leaves some of your stats of course, but might be a good compromise

I haven't done a wipe on my commander (except when Frontier did the wipe) since last year August, when I bought the early-beta version. My commander's name is still "Backer2783" or something similar, given to me during beta phase.
What some will be surprised of, is that I have about 900,000 credits and very low ranks in all 3. I just simply refuse to grind for anything since Frontier wiped my previous commander's balance (over 25 million) during the gamma release. I'm done with grinding for good. The only way I'd do it, if someone would pay me by the hour.

I'm also waiting for a version of update to the game, when I don't have to grind to earn recognition, but the game would draw me in, and earning money and ranks would be a side effect, not the aim of the game.

I'm a patient man. If the game still exists next year, but the still lacking depth - you still gonna see Backer2294 sitting in a Type-6 with 900,000 credits to his name and the login data would show him playing 30 minutes after every patch, before logging off.
