Elite / Frontier Anyone played Noctis?

I have just been introduced to Noctis and I must say its a pretty neat little game. It also uses a realistic galaxy with the same kind of scope as Frontier/FFE.

What I find cool about it is it feels a lot more like a proper science game.

If Elite 4 is going to model the whole galaxy again then it might be neat if one can be a scientist as a career path instead of the usual pirate, bounty hunter, trader, or military special ops.

Would it not be cool to allow the exploration of distant systems and be able to gear up a spaceship with various cams such as panaromaic, IR, spectographs etc. So in other words; only the inner core of say 500 light years is explored and that allows players to map the rest of the galaxy making it much cooler to venture out into the unknown systems. Obviously if the game seeded 1/50 of the new systems with artifacts or primitive lifeforms then players could be rewarded for uncovering new habitable worlds or treasure.

So the idea would be that only the inner galaxy has been mapped for planetary systems, atmospeherics, chemcial and mineral analysis etc... Let the player take his science tools and do the analysis him/herself. Then maybe like as in Noctis, players can upload their findings so bit by bit the galaxy is mapped. Maybe even then allow other players to build outposts or space stations on and around these new planetary systems.

So the game doesnt have to be an online type of game but instead an automatic update occurs everyday when you load the game. Kind of like how anti-virus updates occur.

This gives the game the longevity and dynamic universe as an online multiplayer game without the hassle of online development etc...
