Anyone playing primarily as a miner and enjoying it right now?

I like it. Its my Zen time. I am a miner with teeth in my cobra. I put on some chill music, mine in pristine metallic rings and drive my space bulldozer
Pirates come and I get a bit annoyed and kill them (mostly), then change zen modes again and back to chipping and mining.
I love it when you hit that occasional Palladium/Platimum or Platinum/Gold roid after a boring period of not much.
Yesterday though I nearly got toasted by an npc python that seemed to be superman. Got away with 12% hull. No Idea how come it was so powerful compared to the anaconda pirate I killed 10 mins before. The anaconda pirate kindly dropped 10 crates of gold before exploding.

Njikan is my "home" system. When I started to mine couple a days ago, I was looking for a good place to start, I soon realised that it was at "home", sometimes even I have luck! Njikan has it all!!!

A single bin refinery isn't very efficient as you have to vent the mineral you don't want each time you collect a chunk. When you can afford it, try to upgrade to a 2- or 4-bin refinery, it will make things much easier. Happy mining!

That might be it, i just tried the cheapest refinery. But I did refine what I wanted and tried to Vent the stuff I didn't want, but for some reason it wouldn't to that. It can't be cargo related because it has to be 100% refined before tossing it into the cargo hold, am I right?

I've been trading this and that last to days. Tomorrow it's mining time with my new Viper Thanks for the elaborate explanation, appriciate it.

All i do at the minute is mining, its all about patience and having the right equipment, having a 1 or 2 bin refinery makes it very difficult and frustrating, 6 bin is perfect because you can store bits of gold, palladium and platinum, select to refine the two elements you are scooping then you dont have to allocate every time you scoop, then vent what you dont need. you have to hit the asteroid just right so the fragments come off in a nice tidy line then its easy, also dont bother with belts, go for planetary rings, look for metallic and pristine, drop into the dark rings away from the extraction points, and blast away you can make 200-300 thousand credits in no time (depending on your ships cargo)

I understand alot of gamers dont like the tedious grinding, but this game has always been about the long game, you have to earn what you get, i think if you have scanners that tell you whats in the roids it would ruin it just like a tractor beam, if you dont put in the work you should get the rewards, like with trading, you have to find a trade route, pick the stuff up and take it to the other end.

If everything was easy, in a few months everyone would have tons of money, have the best ships and weapons and the game would be done

I gave up on mining... fun though.... but very slow... I mined in my asp...maybe a bad experience as I always got interrupted by pirates... Maybe I'll try another day. Fastest way of making credits is trading, point ^^
