Hardware & Technical Anyone recommend a good monitor for Elite.

Moving to the hardware forum.

As for decent monitors, I'm a massive fanboy of ASUS and Samsung monitors, so anything outside of it i'm not too akin to.

If you have the money, this is a rather nice monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236405 (144hz, 27inch, 2560x1440 resolution, G-Sync)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824022246 this monitor is a 4k monitor with FreeSync, 60hz, 28 inch.

Also, if you're using nVidia (not so sure about ATI/AMD), make sure the output dynamic range is set to Full (0-255) rather limited (16-255). You'll notice a larger color profile with the monitors. Things pop out with that set at that.

Is that option only available when using an HDMI Cable? I connect via DVI and it is not there :

Just googled and yes it is only valid for HDMI .....

The best monitors are 16:10 and 4:3. Do not ever buy the sausage-slit 16:9 for gaming. Those are for films only.
I found 1920x1200 being a good compromise for playing.

Switching from 16:9 to 16:10 was a great step that improved my overall field of vision, gameplay, and, besides Elite, even work.

I am looking for a top notch ultrawide setup.

My crazy alternatives are LG 38UC99-W plus AMD rx480 (freesync)

Or ASUS ROG-SWIFT-PG348Q where i keep my old Titan 1st gen (gsync)

In the end it was also a decision between an excellent monitor setup vs getting a new pc plus vive, but i rather wait for the next gen of vr solutions, hopefully wireless.

What do you think?

I'm looking to buy a new monitor. The main thing i need is a good Black level. My current monitor is an LG IPS. Its colours are amazing. Lovely sharp image at 1080p. Looks great in all games but its blacks could be better. I've heard that IPS screens have trouble with dark images, there's a glow that takes Away some of the blackness of space. Planets and stations etc look amazing tho. Its like there needs to be something to contrast against before its black looks black. I've done all i can with game and GPU settings. Its not game breaking. But if I'm getting a new one i may as well get one thats good for my favourite game.
Is there a different screen technology that might be better for this game? Or any of you guys recommend a good 27" model.

Thanks cmdrs

😊

I just took a home an Acer Predator x34 for $999.00 at Micro Center. It is unbelievable. My 3 27 inch setup is history.

Oh Dear - 16:9 is hugely better - are you thinking of perhaps the 21:9 ultra-wide monitors?

16:9 2560 x 1440 gives much better detail than a 16:10 1920 x 1200
