Anyone remember Mike Singleton's Midwinter?

I was just thinking, if you played Odyssey on an Ice world, and if the game generated some chained missions, like recapturing some settlements, and persuading NPCs to cooperate with you by helping them out - you'd sort of be playing Midwinter in the 21 century. This, in my book, would be seriously cool.

ideally a few SRV variants would be needed.

........and cable-cars. :)

Midwinter and Midwinter 2 were fantastic games. Fond memories indeed :)
Hang-gliders!

A shame the remake went dark a few years back - the guy who did the excellent Lords of Midnight & Doomdark’s Revenge versions for phones & PC (and now free on GoG!) was working on it but I’ve not seen any updates for a while now.

Plenty of old games would work in Odyssey - how about the Mercenary series?

Yes, I remember. I never understood it - I was junior level English Understander at the time. I also liked Mercenary but had no idea what I was doing.
Starglider 1 I almost finished but botched the end fight. Starglider 2 I, again, had little idea what I was supposed to do. All these I like to subsume under similar games.
Elite had also vector graphics but the gameplay was different. Technically Starglider 1 was too, but I chuck it into the category because of Starglider 2.

I remember we had absolutely no idea what we were doing. It had a very unique look, and even at the time you couldn't mistake it for anything else.

It is a shame the remake never happened.

Yes. Midwinter 1 and 2 were great games, and Mike Singleton an inspiration. As Jonny says above, it's a shame that Chris Wild's remake never got off the ground.
