Anyone running missions for cracked industrial firmware successfully?

Ever since the recent stealth patch to mission reward EFC's MEF's and BTC's have become super common and so easily farmed that by now you could easily obtain hundreds of each in a single session but all of these items have like 5 or 8 recipes while CIF's have like 20
Yesterday i spent like 4 hours running data while keeping track of exactly how much of each material that i wanted spawned

132 MEF's
93 EFC's
76 BTC's
12 CIF's
7 electrochemical arrays
3 thermic alloys
5 conductive ceramics

And this has been a typical result the past week
It seems to me material rarities have been swapped and dav's hope is still the best place for CIF's

Anyone found the logic behind item spawn rates or simply a station that rewards CIF's more regularly?

CIF are a high rank reward. You're more likely to find them if you're Elite. Less likely if you're not. Mission rewards aren't affected by any other factor

Hi there,

Other way around...

CIF are a mid rank reward. You're less likely to get them if you're elite. More likely if you're not (The highest chances are at Expert and Master).

You're right that they aren't affected by any other factor, though. (it's also rank of mission, not your rank specifically, though the two are linked).

Also, why are people calling it a stealth patch? We told everyone what we did when we did it...

Hi CMDRs,

...

There are also two further updates along with this change:
  • An increase in a number of the following materials rewards that will be given for missions: Cracked Industrial Firmware, Exquisite Focus Crystals, Biotech Conductors, Modified Embedded Firmware
  • An overall balance change to the number of high-rank missions will appear on mission boards for high ranking CMDRs.

I am Elite and i get nuff CIF missions.
Even with 4 at once.
Ofc the chance to get them is higher with more missions which depends on your rank with the minor factions.

Thanks, I knew they were tied to rank, anyway.

Dom, I'm grateful for your work on the mission boards, they are today better than they have ever been, I want to congratulate you on some really good tweaks. Unfortunately, I have to temper that with a rant about FD's poor communication, as usual.

The thread referring this issue, and you were talking to us in, was in dangerous discussion, you told us you were testing a fix, then, after that....nothing. The community had to figure out on its own that the fix had been promoted to production and subsequently that the issue had been fixed. I think you'll find that is why I, and others, believed it was a stealth patch. Nobody looks in the support forum for PATCH notes, or ANNOUNCEMENTS, which should be in the News and Bulletins forum, or, wait, even better...the PATCH NOTES forum?! ;)

The missing engineer materials has nothing to do with the fact that the mission board retrieved partially sometimes, which is a problem I personally have never seen, so why would I look at the notes for that issue, to find the answer to the missing materials? Which really smart guy decided to merge these two issues (excuse sarcasm, but it is well deserved)?

To end on a positive, I think CIF drop rates are appropriate, CIF should be rarer than the mission only materials (as a mission reward), because it is not a 'mission only' material, it can be relatively efficiently farmed from base runs 'as well'.

Keep up the good work Dom, but please, throw us a bone where we expect to see one every now and then, don't hide it and then ask us why we think something happened in secret. ;)

Any chance then, if one is Elite, to "downgrade" your reward?

I'd kindly offer to take some worthless (or at least supposedly "worth less") CIFs from the mission givers, as i realise how much of a struggle the current economy is with Thargoids and other general uncertainties.

How are you collecting Cracked Industrial Firmware at Dav's Hope when you can only collect material there and not data?
Scanning the data beacon at the entrance of Dav's gives you data. It also resets every time you log out...eh...because you have to take a bathroom break, or get a coffee, or something something ;)

*scratches head*

Why make CIF rarer if you are Elite? I'm Elite and I'm happy to grind the mission board to get CIF. But I can't help feeling that the playing field is not level...through no fault of my own.

Wth so im screwed because im at 63% deadly?
I have to do datapoint runs for CIF's, which if done legit are very time consuming and require a bit of skill and planning for a "midgrade" material while i could easily obtain 100+ "high grade" materials of multiple types while hauling data, booze and sigarettes which is just stupid easy

Great design
